BIO

Ceylon Perez is a young, carefree orphaned boy who performs tricks on the streets of Zootropolis City along with his newly found comrade, D.B. He often practices said tricks in hopes of getting into Mr. Cattarhini’s Wondrous Circus, his most beloved place to visit in Zootropolis City ever since he was a small puppy.

In his early childhood, Ceylon lived a relatively happy, albeit quite sheltered, life with his stay-at-home mother Reese in the town of San Roza. He was very close with Reese, and he loved his father Carlos just the same, even if he was too busy spending countless hours making money from his high-paying job to spend proper quality time with his wife and son. Once every summer of the year, Reese would take him to Zootropolis City — mainly to take him to Mr. Cattarhini’s circus.

While Ceylon loved everything about the circus, his favorite part was seeing the clowns do their tricks, especially the young boys who took part in the act as “Junior Clowns”. Due to this, the little pup became so enthralled that he wanted to become part of the clown act himself in the future, which Reese had supported wholeheartedly — even if she set unrealistic expectations on him such as the idea of an entire crowd cheering for him. And with his aspirations on the rise, Ceylon had trained himself every day with a variety of clown items and toys that he keeps in a special knapsack that Reese had bought for him on their first trip to the circus, with his favorite item being a rubber toy hammer that squeaks whenever it hits something. He carries said knapsack everywhere with him whenever he can.

Though even if Ceylon felt as if nothing could go wrong in his life, things started to become complicated as Reese began to have a secret affair with a rich pitbull man named Raul, who worked a higher paying job than Carlos. Years passed, and soon after Raul found out his money was constantly being stolen by her and that she was cheating on her own husband with him to boot, he had enough and finally stood his ground. So on that night, Reese immediately decided to pack her bags and officially move to Zootropolis City with her son to accompany her, all because she felt threatened by Raul.

Thinking that Zootropolis City — his favorite place in the world — could be a safe haven for him and his mother, Ceylon was highly optimistic that things would turn out for the better. Though unfortunately, that was not the case. One dreary night after dark, while being accompanied by Reese, a bearded dragon man — who was running from the police — decided to take advantage of her in an abandoned alley, killing her in the process. While watching in complete and utter horror as well as confusion as to what the mysterious man was doing to his mother, Ceylon begged and pleaded in tears for the reptile to stop multiple times. Of course, he didn’t listen to the innocent child and only threatened to kill him too if he didn’t keep his mouth shut. Scared for his life, the boy had no choice but to flee to a faraway alley and never look back.

In that alley that he had fled to, he was all alone with his knapsack of clown tricks which turned out to come in handy for him. Because even after that traumatic event he had witnessed as well as the loss of his mother, he still coped by simply keeping his child-like nature with him and even decided to perform his clown tricks on the streets for passersby to enjoy. He was only a solo act until he had met and befriended a fellow runaway frog boy who had no name at all. So ultimately, he had decided to give him a name of which he was constantly called by others; as well as giving him his old tattered clown clothes which he had worn as a young pup, that he had kept in his knapsack just for nostalgic purposes.

Personality wise, he is a happy-go-lucky teenager who wants to share his passion with the world, and never gives up on achieving his goals and dreams. Moreover, he also encourages others to never give up on their dreams as well; including his newfound friends, the Bereaved Believers. Due to having the mentality of a young child, he doesn’t always think about the feelings of others, but his heart is always in the right place and will do anything to bring comfort and joy to the people he loves.

While he doesn’t know it himself, Ceylon has sort of an innocent crush on Misty. Because he knows very little about the concept of love, he sees his liking towards her as admiration, if anything — so he denies that it is anything but romantic attraction.
