Alright this is the last Christmas upload, I promise. Originally I had just planned to make the Christmas ornaments for everyone, but when I went back to the store and saw this little wooden figure, I couldn't help being inspired. I really regret not taking a "before" picture, as the finished product is drastically different from what I started with. (I've even tried searching the internet for a stock image and can't find it anywhere.)

Anyway, it just started out as this blank wooden reindeer with wire antlers. My mom can be described as a zebra fanatic, and while looking at the wooden reindeer I couldn't help thinking how funny it would be to turn it into some kind of Christmas zebra. Which is exactly what I did. The stripes are painted with acrylic paint and then coated in a clear acrylic glaze. I bought some velvet ribbon and these adorable little bells for the harness, which is all attached with hot glue. There's a red string around his head to make it look like he tied the antlers on, and his mane and tail are faux fur.

It was a bit of a challenge to change something designed to be a reindeer into a zebra, but I'm pretty proud of the way it came out. It may look fragile, but he's actually pretty sturdy. I almost didn't want to give him away, he was too fun to play with C:
