Okay this is a really dodgy modification of some of the TV art off Dragonball. It's half arsed, I know. I thought Trunks and Goten should have tails so I gave Trunks a tail.I DID NOT DRAW THE REST! !!!! !!!!!!!
And from reading a few other Deviant Arts, if you're low life enough to insult me for it being purple...eh do what you want
I think it looks cool purple. 
I deleted the Goten one because it looked really crap.
I'm not experienced doing stuff like this but I like this one. Hence the dodgy erasing of background around the picture. If I had one of just Trunks with the tail, I can't find it anyway. Haha!Anyway tails are awesome.
EDIT: I later noticed how dodgy the tail position is...hahah eww completely unintentional...

Goten/Trunks don't have the Saiyan Tail because Akira Toriyama forgot about them.
Hence why the DBZ canon is so confusing.

cool idea!for some reason i saw Trunks with a blue tail in my mind.........I dont get it either XD I lurve the Saiyan tails too!I wish they were showed more in the series!they are cute and awesome!which is why whenever I make DBZ Saiyans,I give them tails regardless X3 I heard of the whole"Recessive Trait"BS,and it makes no sense,every other saiyan trait is strong as hell(like im not sure if it counts but,in GT Goku's great,great....Lotta greats grandson looks exactly like young him,Goten too!)

And yeah, I think the tail would be better brown but whatever. He doesn't even have one so no one has any right to flame you for choosing that color anyway. ^ ^

Yeah ahaha there's no real reason why it should be brown or lavender; I just prefer the appearance of lavender, like his hair, for shallow reasons such as 'colours match'. I just wish they had had tails! EERRRR!!!

From what I understand Akira retro actively changed the whole recessive trait thing and just settled on Trunks and Goten having their tails removed at birth. At least that was the most recent statement he gave as to why they do not have them.

I agree. Trunks, and pretty much every Saiyain should have had a tail. Trunks is already a mischievous kind of kid. He looks more mischievous with a tail if you ask me. Imagine how cute and funny it would be if Trunks mooned Broly with his tail on. XD

Someone SHOULD! I'd just love to see Trunks with a tail moon Broly! XD Also when he turns Super Saiyan because I wanna see the tail turn gold. Also, didn't they already figure a way out how to stop them from rampaging? Like, didn't Master Roshi blow up the moon? I also remember Piccolo blowing it up, too, so they shouldn't have been able to transform. Unless they went onto another planet with a moon. Or maybe if Vegeta decided to use that False Moonlight technique he used to make himself transform when he fought Goku.
Also, it should be a weakness if someone squeezes their tails, because after all, the Saiyans are very strong so it's fair to give them a weakness. Like Superman and his weakness to Kryptonite. After all, every other race does. If you damage or cut a Namek's head, he can't regenerate Cold and heat seem to bother even the strongest humans, like Krillin. I remember Krillin shivering when they were trying to look for Dr. Gero. The Saiyans just look more human without the tails and I don't want that. I want them to look more alien. And giving them back their tails is exactly what they need.

I agree!! I can't remember about the moon, it's been some time since I saw it. Frankly the moon shouldn't re-appear. I'm sure Roshi trashed the the moon the first time (when Goku was fighting as a kid at the tournament and transformed) and then Piccolo trashed it again! Come on, it's a bit mass of rock, that wouldn't bloody reappear hahahaha!
They do need a weakness -grumble- instead of the whole "oooooohhh I'm well stronger than you, ha ha ha! Beat me now!' bollocks from the opponents. Weaknesses make it more complex. They DO look too human without tails. Maybe it's just us being shallow but the tails are too cute haha! I still reckon there could have been other technology.

They do need weaknesses like everyone else. Like if When Gohan was beating Super Buu, well, you knew he would win, but if Gohan had a tail, then Super Buu could grab it, which doesn't make the fight so one sided Those are the most boring. I think Goha's tail was ripped off a couple times before it stopped growing back, but when Vegeta's tail is cut off once, it doesn't grow back! With Goten and Trunks I'm not sure. They either never had tails, or they were removed when they were born. If THAT'S The case, Bad Chi Chi and Bulma!! I wanted to see their tails! XD It's nothing shallow so don't worry. Tails especially monkey tails are just too damn cute!

Yeah it doesn't make sense.
Well it does sort of. I guess. The maker of the show said the gene was recessive, even though it didn't genetically make sense. So it stands to reason both children may have been born without tails. When they are adults, the tail doesn't grow back anymore after being removed. Or, it doesn't after several times of being cut off, can't remember. So, if Vegeta's was cut off a few times already, it wouldn't grow back.
Which sucks! Sucks sucks sucks! Technically if Trunks and Goten had their tails cut off once they ought to have grown back, so it's more likely they were never born with one or kept having it cut off. I'm thinking didn't have one when born, because I'm pretty sure it's the kids who keep regrowing it.
Have you seen that X-files episode where the guy had a monkey tail removed when he was 14, and they show a kid born with a tail? Haha its nuts. I was flicking through day-time telly once and saw it on there. He could transform into anyone he wanted.

Ah. I just assumed they had their tails cut off when they we're born. After all we all saw what Goku and Gohan did after they looked at the full moon! Vegeta may have had his tail cut off several times, though I don't know how. But you're probably right. They were probably never born with tails.
Nope I haven't seen that episode. I rarely watch X-Files, although I should more often. I'll watch that episode soon.

They really shoulda always had tails, it kinda always annoyed me that by that point in the series Toriyama-Sensei obviously just FORGOT about tails and then tried to pass them off as a 'recessive trait'

Actually, it is actually mentioned why. I tried finding the clip on youtube, but youtube is full of fail so I apologize. Anyhow, Goten and Trunks don't have tails, because they had them removed when they were babies. Bulma was having a conversation with someone and she off-handedly says that. I'm sorry, like I said I was looking for the clip and couldn't find it, I promise its there.

*Shrug* Well whatever you want to think is fine. I consider the dub cannon, but independent of dub vs Japanses, it is logical for the series that Trunks and Goten would have their tails removed, considering that in Dragon Ball Goku had his removed, and early in DBZ, Gohan also does. I don't think that its stupid, because it fits in the context of the series.

Well to be fair, Gohan never had his tail 'removed' the same way Gokou did - nor did Vegeta. It just never grew back. Maybe you could play the 'it stops growing after a certain age' card for Vegeta, but Gohan's was pretty much proof that Toriyama-sensei just forgot. I'll never consider the dub canon...it is indeed a separate series from the Japanese, but considering of all the dubs all over the world that kept to the same story, FUNimation's is the only one that went so radically off target with it...and I'll never consider anything they did differently canon, so that includes little snippets of dialogue like that. Still, it's so ambiguous that no matter what version you follow, it's easy to assume the boys had their tails removed at birth because they just weren't necessary anymore...after all, it's still a weakness you have to train hard to overcome, so removing that weakness at birth would make a lot of sense when you think about it.

That's exactly what I was saying. Regardless of whether Toriyama "forgot" the tails or not, it is still logical within the series for Trunks and Goten not to have them,(for a number of reasons) so I don't see what the fuss is. And like I said, I do consider the dub cannon, so whatever. We can just agree to disagree.

I've felt the same way!!!! Goddamn! Why did they ditch them? I really think perhaps it was because they made them too strong, but come on, they 'powerplayed' throughout the entire series. I mean seriously, every badguy was all powerful. They could have just pretended the oozaru form was not strong enough or whatever...to me it was pure laziness.

After Gohan beats Vegeta the Oozaru just...don't exist anymore. And it's good in the way that they didn't overdo it, but the way they milked Super Saiyajin so much...ugh.
Tails could have added an interesting flavor to that, I think.

Super Saiyan just went dumb. At least GT they returned the tails thing. I wanted Trunks to have a tail and Vegeta to grow his back. I mean how many times did the guy LOSE his tail in the past? Must have been an awful lot as it didn't grow back. But I don't know the entire back story...I've seen the entire series, except a few in several sagas I haven't found yet in the video store, but probably missed a lot or something?

But yeah, I think the reason Vegeta's tail never grew back is just because at that point in the story it wasn't needed anymore, and Toriyama-Sensei kinda got caught up and forgot to draw it, at which point it was too late. Other people have suspected it's a matter of age; every time Gokou's grew back he was a kid, and likewise Gohan's, but Vegeta lost his when he was an adult so it just didn't grow back? Either way it doesn't explain why Goten and Trunks never HAD them (I speculate they were likely removed at birth), and it bugs the Hell outta me!!
But either way, you didn't miss anything, because that stuff is never explained in the series. It's basically all fan speculation for the reasons, but the most obvious explanation is similar to the reason behind a lot of other blunders in the series-Toriyama-Sensei was either ignoring his own universe's logic or he just forgot.

GT was boring for the most part, I agree...I just wanted to see the tails and the shape shifting!! That's what I loved. I loved Dragonball, and the beginning of Dragonball Z the most, although I found parts of the rest of the story very touching and funny. I hate how it drags on though sometimes. (ie Namek...but seeing the first Super Saiyan was great...that was amazing...but then it went far later on).
Broli...now how annoying, he had no tail first, that was visible anyway, then in one movie he had one, then lost it when that acid fell on him and obviously the damn thing just fell off. 'Bio Broli' was pretty dumb overall. Seriously.
As for why the tails didn't grow on Trunks and that...I guess that stupid recessive gene. How cool would a purple Oozaru look? I've seen a lot of fan speculation. Too many diehard fans too who are too arrogant about the show. Your art isn't stuck up and that's what I like about it. (I hope no other DBZ fan reads this because I'll get bashed...and I hate being yelled at

Oh, Brolli...yeah. I saw concept sketches that Toriyama-Sensei did for the movie when he said he didn't care whether or not he had a tail, so they made him not have one...but then Movie #10...WTF?! Seriously!!

You ever played any game boy games? The GT game was hideous. Boring, absolutely. The others however were great. I want the playstation 2 one. I don't get time to play video games much anymore (Work, Uni, and of course guitar and drinking booze with mates)...but Ill find time for it.

What is Sparking Neo? I haven't got a Wii system...I don't game much, I did as a kid, the oldschool nintendo, atari, those sort of systems, got a bit lost later I guess. Except some newer games I really loved, a few exceptions.
What was the original? I do mean the Legacy of Goku ones. The Buu and Cell ones were brilliant...so much gameplay...the one with Raditz and the stupid GT one had really short game play! I finished the first one and the GT one very quickly. The others took weeks of leveling characters up. So much better! I wish they had been the ones with tails and Oozaru...I'd like to have played Gohan becoming one. I'd like a Dragonball game. My games came in two per pack so I got one good game and one crap game.

The original 'Legacy of Goku' was the the one where you could only play AS Gokou, through the Saiyajin and Freeza Saga. The entire scheme of the game and everything was different, and just downright God Awful.
