Is the 17-35 f2.8 the best choice for UWA? Wouldn't be the 16-35 f/4 better for stopped down work? Just curious, I'm a DX shooter myself.

yes the 4 stop is expensive but well worth the money.
If you are doing filter work like me then yes stopped down the 16-35 has better IQ, and justifiable so cause it is a much younger lens. The f/2.8 is a great advantage for indoors though which I sometimes use.
if you don't use filters and you blend your exposures then the 14-24 is a far better lens than the above two even wide open and since you are a DX user it will still be a UWA including the crop factor.
