Okay, first person who can say where I parodied the 'mad-man with a frozen banana' from gets a free sketch from me(no porn/hentai though) XPYes, it's from a (hard-to-find )manga. That's all I can tell ya.

Been practicing with colored pencils lately and I just finished this today. I've been trying new methods and what not, in an attempt to figure out how to use these evil colored pencils somewhat decently. I think I'm slowly, but surely, learning.
Hmm, I wonder if Helen really was attacked or if she's just making up some wild story. XD Deneve seems to think the latter.

But, you're background is really good in technique, byt the faces seem a bit off...perhaps maybe you should use the side of the pencil lead...place the pencil on the table flat, and pick it up with all your fingers. Tilt the end only enough so that the entire one side of the lead is in contact with your piece...put down a light layer for overall coverage first, then shade from there, always, always moving in a single direction only. And also with the shading, try single strokes in one direction, not back and forth.
When you put down too heavy a layer, it becomes very difficult to blend...and your lines are very pronounced.

I actually did do several layers(about 4-5 or so), but I didn't know how to make it look like they were 'inside' the cave. I kept adding more colors to it. So this was mostly an experimental piece in coloring. Though the pronounced lines around the neck was done purposely because I liked how it looked. >.<
What is your opinion on using white when blending? I normally use it somewhat, but I looked up tutorials on coloring with colored pencils and got very different opinions.

Well, white can severely change the color you're using, so for me, I simply don't use it...especially given the fact that usually the paper itself is white, so it is not needed. I just eaither ease up or harden the pressure of the color I'm using to get the desired shade. For me, white is best and only utilized when using dark or black papers.
But, it is all up to your own personal taste really...some shades are hard to achieve using the base color...like red to pink or pinkish. Then, sometimes white may be used if you don't actually have pink.
But, as with everything, as I said, it is personal taste really.

I guess I should work with and without it a bit more to see what I prefer, then. Because there was this one person giving a tutorial who used white and the effects he/she got were amazing! >o<
