Description
This is a page depicting the characters of one of my favourite book trilogy's. Kushiel's Dart, Kushiel's Chosen, Kushiel's Avatar.On the page are Joscelin Verriuel (my fav character and also the guy in my avatar), Phedre (the main character), Melisande (evil lady) and my own Marque that I made.

I'm so glad you decided to share this with the group. I love these renditions of the characters, particularly Joscelin, although that's no surprise considering the amount of attention he dominates on the page. It really captures his essence, and I love seeing renditions of him.
Obscurely, I also really like your sketch of the Master of the Straits. It's exactly how I pictured that face upon the waves. Also curious, is that little teeny sketch in the middle of the two embracing taken from that reunion moment in Kushiel's Chosen?

So happy to see this submitted at the club! Yours was one of the first Kushiel fanart pieces I saw here on DA and still one of my favorites. I love your rendition of Joscelin, which is still more spot on with his abrasively resolute attitude rather than mere bishi fanservice, as many are apt to portray him as.
I hope to see more from you and am still on the lookout for Hyacinth pieces

I remember Hyacinth now. 
I'll have to get back into drawing the characters some more. I did do a man of the sea pic, but it's not on here. I still have all the originals in a folder. Now to get my scanner working.

It's great to see concept work for such a visually rich novel. I've been pondering doing a set of chara sketches and marques myself. It's just so inspiring! I really love how you've captured Joscelin here. It's very close to my own mental image (and is that the terminus he's about to perform?)
You've really captured Melisande's graceful confidence and Phedre's snarky playfulness as well. I wonder what your version of Hyacinthe might look like.

It's been a while since I've read the books, so I might have to do that again to get all the terms. They're some of my favourite books and I don't tend to do many fan based pics.
Joscelin is one of my favourite characters and when I read about that pose, it wasn't something I could leave alone.
I'll have to have a re-read to remember who Hyancinte is. I've also got the new book to read too, so I might as well start at the beginning again.
Then perhaps there'll be more sketches to come.

Haha yeah. First time I read the trilogy I absolutely hated her. Now, I have a love-hate relationship with her, especially since Imriel's in the picture.

I think Joscelin is spot on and Phèdre is plausible, but I don't think Melisande looks so sinister. Great work, though!!! Love these books...

lol... thanks for the comments. I think i just caught Melisande in one of her more sinister moods... back towards the beginning of the trilogy. Or was it in the middle... hrm.. time to read up again i think.

That's gorgeous! Elua bless Kushiel's Trilogy (and the Imriel Trilogy) fans! I absolutely adore your marque, (which house would you be in? I'd be in Gentian, or Orchis... or Valerian) Anyway, the characters are a lot like how I pictured them, is that how hair is 'clubbed' I never knew. Anyway, absolutely awesome. Your servant;

I honestly don't know what house I would be in... don't think I've thought that far.
Urm.. I think it's a version of a sailor's club, I'm not sure. There is a style (that I think is closer to what a 'clubbed' do would look like), where it's tied and bound at the back of the neck, but so that it's quite solid, like doubled back on itself. It's hard to explain. You might have to look it up.

You rock! Finally some more fans out there. I've read the first 3 books and the new Imriel book.
Very good depiction of the characters, especially Joscelin. I picture him almost the same way as you drew him but his features somewhat softer in my mind's eye. To me it's only because of his naivetΓ©.

Why thank ye! Alas... I haven't got the new book yet. I'll have to go on a little hunt for it later. ^_^ I absolutely loved the three books. Hrm.. I think I have Joscelin look like that because he's a more serious person, even though he is quite naive.
