The woods were silent, save for usual rustle of the small animals scurrying over the dead foliage laying on the ground and the birds rustling the leaves that hung overhead, which seemed to create a thin veil between the floor of the forest and the bright sky above.

All at once, the minute sounds that originated from the surrounding animals stopped, as if they were simultaneously taking a breath, all staring in one direction.

If was quiet enough where each being could hear the trampling footsteps of an animal, coming closer by the second. By the lack of stealth and grace, it was easily be told to be a human, which was what caught the attention of a certain (h/c).

(Y/n) had been lounging in one of the tall trees, finding that the particular tree she was in was the perfect place to lay, all the while being able to see everything around her without being seen. One of the small animals that inhabited the tree had been laying in her lap, that was until the human had been heard, causing most of the animals to scatter, which immediately caught the (e/c) Creature to be on guard.

She was, for lack of a better term, a guardian. Some would call her a wood elf, some would call her a child of the fey, but no one that saw her had ever been able to stay close enough to her to tell; Afterwards, they simply believed that they had imagined the wild girl; But there was something... Different this time.

She knew that every living thing had energy; The animals, the plants, even the earth beneath her feet. Every animal had the same general sort of energy as the rest of it's species, including humans. It was easy to tell that the creature coming towards them was in fact a human, but there was something different about it.

She quickly pulled her legs up onto the branch with her, standing in a low crouch as the leaves surrounded her. Her lively (e/c) eyes had pin-pointed where the noise of the approaching human was coming, and without moving her eyes from the spot, not moving out of her crouch, she reached back to grab one of the arrows strapped to her back, as well as the bow that had been hanging on a limb by her while she rested.

Several moments passed before she had a view of what was coming towards her, or more specifically, who. Bright red hair was the first thing to be seen, although she had been able to hear light cursing coming from the character as he trampled through the foliage on the ground. To a human, he would have been seen as almost completely silent, but to those with sharp hearing, it was unbearably easy to hear.

She stood deathly still as she watched the red haired man walk through the trees, weaving around them expertly, as if he had been there before. But then again, it was possible that he had; (Y/n) Had not been to this area f the woods in a long while, since up until recently, she normally resided in the western quarter of the wood, rather then the northern, where she was now.

She watched as he passed beneath her, not giving the (H/c)  woman a second glance, which only made her job easier. One of her jobs as a guardian was to make sure that the woods were protected, out of harms way; But, she was also to make sure that no harm came to any humans within it as well.

She sighed, standing from her crouch as she slung her bow over her back, and began to follow the tall man. Despite his loud footsteps, he seemed to be relatively... Aware, compared to other men and women of whom usually clomped through her forest. Most people completely ignored what was beneath their feet when they stepped, the Animals around them, or above them for that matter. But then again he couldn't either...

"Are ye goin' ta stop followin' me an'a time soon?"

Maybe he could...

(Y/n) froze in her tracks, staying silent until he seemed convinced that he had been mistaken, continuing on his way. The wild (h/c) girl sighed in relief, waiting a moment or two before beginning to follow him once again. She was surprised that he had heard her, but that didn't mean he could see her.

They went in the same fashion for several minutes more; The man heading to the south with purpose, seemingly towards the heart of the forest, (Y/n) following silently behind. This continued on until he suddenly stopped, facing the large pond, almost a lake of sorts, that sat at the very center of the forest.

It was too big to be called a pond, and yet it seemed too small to be considered a lake, with crystal clear blue water that almost seemed to glow in the mid-afternoon light. The large trees that surrounded the pond all allowed their limbs to stretch out a good five feet over the edge of the water.

The red haired man sighed in what sounded like relief as he walked to the edge of the pond, kneeling down to look into the water. While he seemed to be fiddling with something on his ear, (Y/n) silently crept through the trees once more, pausing as she reached the furthest edge of the limb she was on, which happened to he directly over him.

When the man's hand left his ear, he leaned over the pond, seemingly looking at something within its depths, when he froze. The (e/c) eyed girl watched on in obvious curiosity as he stared at something, although she froze when she realized what it was. Blinded by her curiosity in the man, she had been careless enough to allow herself to be in the image reflected by the crystal pool, and the Green eyed man was staring right at her.

"I knew ye were followin' me lass," He said after a moment, not taking his eyes off of the reflection. His hand went back up to his left ear, (Y/n) now able to see that he seemed to be checking a silver cuff that encircled part of his ear, which is when she realized what he was doing. She thought for a moment, since it had been so long since she had spoken to a human, before she found her words.

"I am not a... Faerie, if that is what you were thinking," She said clearly, only pausing when she was forced to think of the word that most humans before had thought of her. The red head froze, turning around slightly when he heard (Y/n)'s voice ringing out through the small clearing. (Y/n) didn't move when she saw the man moving, although her slightly narrowed eyes watched him warily as he faced her, a look of confusion on his handsome face.

"Then wha' are ye then?" He asked, masking his confusion with an air of disbelief as he crossed his arms, his emerald eyes narrowed as well, although that couldn't hide the spark of curiosity in them. The wild girl seemed to think for a moment, not because she didn't know the words, but because she had never been sure what she really was; She was a Forest Guardian, that was true, but Guardians can be [1]Ents, Elves, Faeries, even Goblins and Trolls, but as far as she knew, she was none of those things.

"I am a guardian," She said simply, not knowing how else to state what she was. When he looked unconvinced, she glared slightly, huffing to herself as she stood to her full height. Without a moments hesitation, she jumped down from the limb she had been crouched on, landing barely a foot in front of the red haired man, her eyes only barely reaching the height of his own.

"I protect the forest and those that call it their home, as well as those that enter; I am a Guardian," She said, almost as if restating it would make him realize what she was. In all honesty, he knew what forest guardians were, but something was... Different, or she was at least. He sighed in defeat, knowing he wasn't going to be getting anything else out of the wild woman, shaking his head.

He paused a moment to take in her appearance; Messy (H/l) (h/c) hair, of which even though it seemed messy and slightly tangled, didn't seem dirty in the slightest; Light brown, almost wood colored clothing, which seemed t consist of nothing more then a ripped one shouldered mid-drift length shirt, as well as an uneven skirt, brown leather cuffs encircled her wrists and ankles, as well as her upper arms, And gleaming (e/c) eyes, containing the same fire that he had been told on some accounts that he bared.

"Well 'en, does 'his 'Fores' Guardian' 'ave a name?" He finally asked, raising his eyebrows at the attractive female, allowing his arms to drop to his sides in a non-threatening pose. The woman nodded her head, her messy hair following the movement.

"I do," She confirmed, although she didn't seem as though she were going to speak it. To Allistor, she seemed focused on something, and while her eyes were focused on his own, she seemed as if she didn't truly see them. He worked his jaw for a moment before trying again.

"A'm--" He began, although he was cut off almost immediately by the slightly shorter woman, of whom now was completely focused.

"Allistor Kirkland, representation of the country of Scotland; Has a distinct taste for Challenges, Adventure, and... Magic," She said, a small smirk coming to her face as she saw the shock blooming on Allistor's face.

" 'Ow in 'he world?" He asked, his eyes narrowing back down into disbelieving slits. The (H/c) Shrugged, answering as if it were completely obvious.

"Your Song," She said, a small smile coming to her face as she allowed the music t once again enter her ears, although she knew that he couldn't hear it; Humans had never been able to hear it on their own, so it didn't surprise her that this one had no idea of which she spoke. She cut him off again, explaining before he demanded that she do so.

"Your Song; It is what your soul sings, it describes you down to your very essence," She began to explain, smiling when she saw his eyes light up.

"Every living thing has a song; Animals, Plants, Aeries, You, and Me," She said, her arms sweeping out in an arc, motioning to everything around them. Alistair paused for a moment more before he tried again.

" 'Hy 'an't I 'ear them?" He asked, his had absent mindedly moving up to check his iron cuff, which normally served as a way to ward of the Fay, which had actually been his first clue that the girl before him may not have been one of their kind.

"No humans without Magic within them can hear their own song, let alone the songs of others," She said, although she was obviously not finished. She reached her hand up to place it over his own, cupping both his hand and the iron earring.

"You have Magic, this wards it off, but even without the iron, the Magic you contain is not strong enough to hear the songs without help," She said, removing her hand from his. With a soft, yet slightly mischievous smile, she held her hands out in front of her. It took several moments before Allistor understood, and although it was slightly hesitant, his refusal to look weak took over, allowing him to place his larger hands into her smaller calloused ones.

The moment their hands touched, sounds exploded around him, filling his ears with different Rhythms, beats, and tones. Although after a moment, as well as what looked like slight concentration on (Y/n)'s part, the sounds quieted, leaving them in the silence once again. She looked up into bright Green eyes, the smile back in place across her pink lips.

"I will show you mine, so you will understand," She said, her eyes closing as she began to concentrate once again. Allistor watched the beautiful (H/c) haired wild Woman before him, curiosity and an almost unknown feeling shining in his eyes.

After a moment, a single song filled his ears, filling his senses with the feeling of freedom, adventure, and Bravery. Scenes flashed across his eyes; The feeling of practically flying through the trees, a moment of protecting those within the forest's confines of which called for it, the feeling of having the trust of the creatures around him. Anything that passed by his mind's eye was gone before he could truly see it, but he understood what they said perfectly.

(Y/n)

But before his eyes, the scenes that flew by began to change; The feeling of flying changing into the thrill of battle, protecting those of his country when they needed it most, the feeling of Magic coursing through his veins.

"And now, the song that is sung by you,"

He knew who had said it, but he could no longer see the girl in front of him, only the scenes that continued to play in front of his eyes. Despite never having heard it before, he could follow the tune that played in his ears perfectly.

He now completely understood the far off look in the beautiful young woman's eyes from before, when she herself had been listening to his song; It was impossible to listen to it without giving into the feelings completely.

His hands tightened around the smaller ones grasped in his hands, although where he expected there to be soft yet roughly calloused hands, he felt what seemed to him to be... Grass?

He opened his eyes, of which he had never realized had been closed, to see the dark night sky above him, the stars twinkling brighter then he had ever seen them. He sat up slowly, realizing he could no longer hear even a beat of the music that had filled his mind what seemed like only moments ago. His hand reached up to his ear, only to find that the iron cuff that usually resided there was gone.

When he realized what had happened, he groaned, falling back against the grass that lay beneath him, almost angry with himself that he had allowed himself to be fooled as such.
"Damn Faeries..." He grumbled, glaring up at the beautiful stars that blinked at him from above. He sat up, pulling himself to his feet as he dusted off his jeans, only to freeze when he heard something.

"I told you, I am not a Faerie..."

It was her voice. He whipped around, looking for the mysterious (E/c) eyed Wild Woman, only to find that she was no where to be seen. He stood up straight, running a hand through his bright red hair. Although he paused when his had grazed over his ear, feeling the cold metal of his Iron cuff, of which had been missing only moments ago.

When he heard it again, it seemed as if it were riding on the wind, leaving no evidence that it had been said at all.

"I am a Guardian,"
