It's basically this:
The "vampire" fad takes over the school... which is just poser popular kids who are a mockery to actually vampires.
The Goth kids, being social outcasts, LOATHE being mixed up with them--seeing them as posers with no idea on the world of darkness.
In the end, the vampire fad died when the goths burned up Hot Topic, the "Vampire Convertion" place.

Okay, have to say this. I've read the books. They were okay. I can see the hate. I side with you, though, because the Vampire definition has been changed here. They should DEFINITELY not sparkle.

Okay, I know Asmove wrote I, Robot and did the three laws of robotics...that book was good. Heinlein and Clarke, though...don't sound familiar.
However, I have read the entire Hitchikker's Guide To The Galaxy series, so I think that that says something.

I don't mind if a stake through the heart doesn't kill them. I don't mind if silver bullets are like poison to them. (see Moonlight for both). But I DO mind when the sun's only effect on them is sparklies. They should either 'splode or at least have a strong disliking (see Moonlight for the latter). Does Bram Stoker say they sparkle? NO. Does Anne Rice say they sparkle? NO! Does Joel Silver say they sparkle? NO!!
I rest my case.
