Yup! Actually, the use of the hand-held candelabras used in the movie were a reference to Jean Cocteau's Beauty and the Beast.

Thank you! This is actually my personal favourite of the project that I actually kept in the book.
I always thought the castle would age and decay, sort of representing the Beast himself. I don't know if you've seen the Czechoslovakian version, Panna a Netvor, but that version does exactly that and even uses the setting as a character. It's a real feast for the eyes and was a huge influence on the illustrations, this one in particular.
