Description
So a while back in 2014, I did a previous version of this meme, but I felt like changing it due to my overall interest changing a tad. Plus now that I finally know who made the meme when I had trouble finding the original template, I can be a little more professional with it. Now, I still ship most of the couples in the previous version, but I just felt like redoing it. I've been in a shipping meme mood.

I also did decide to keep the one couple per franchise rule for the sake of variety. And I felt like outright skipping the Because it's Hot category since it just made me feel vain. I don't like to ship couples in terms of how attractive they are together, what truly mattered was their interaction and chemistry to get me invested in said relationship.

Because it's Canon was also very close to being skipped for a similar reason because I don't like being restricted by canon and ship a couple solely for that reason. Sticking to canon can be kind of boring at times, and there's just some canon relationships I straight-up don't like or care for for reasons. Maybe it came across as bland, was too cliche, or emotionally manipulative. Maybe I found it poorly written, and/or just an overall random/bad match in my opinion.

Because it's Adorable - Lillie and Moon/Selene/whatever her name is-Female Protagonist (let's just call her Moon) from the Pokemon Sun and Moon games. I know there's practically no difference between the male and female protagonists in terms of role, but being that I am a girl myself, this version sort of interested me more. Lillie is just so strangely shippable in the first place, especially given how many intimate scenes you have with her as the player. And then gradually seeing her develop into a stronger, more confident girl on your journey just made it all the more engaging. Tell me, how many people besides me thought Lillie was going to confess to the player once or twice?

Because it's Hot - Um...no. Skip to the next.

Because it's Plausible - Dipper Pines and Pacifica Northwest from Gravity Falls. Initially before the Northwest Mansion Mystery episode came out, I never found the idea of them as a couple making sense. But it still astounded me how much I loved the idea of Dipcifica (and Pacifica's character) after watching. I don't think they should automatically hook up since they're a bit young and could use more development. Maybe in a few years down the line, but there is so much interesting potential.

Because they're Alike - Harry Potter and Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter series. Yeah, this could've been me who thought way back that because they were the male and female leads, they would've been an item (that and I saw the movies first, which arguably had more hints for the relationship). But I know otherwise that it is not the case. However, it still doesn't change that I've always liked them together. I feel they understood each other on a deeper level compared to Ginny or Ron (no offense to them). They had a similar childhood being raised as Muggles, they're the serious ones of the trio, etc. And while they do share some similarities, they also have enough little differences to prevent them from being like an echo chamber. Plus there was that recent news about how J.K. Rowling admitted she felt Harry and Hermione would've arguably been a better match. When even the creator thinks the relationship could've worked, even without being canon, you know it's probably a pretty good one.

Because they're Opposites - Bushroot and Liquidator from Darkwing Duck. They may be both male, elemental-mutated supervillains, but that's where all the comparisons stop. They're not even the same species first of all, and their personalities are drastically different as well. The Liquidator is a very confident charmer who is...not-so sympathetic, whereas Bushroot is the more timid resident woobie that trumps all woobies. And it doesn't help they arguably represent water and earth too. Just the idea of them together would be very interesting based on the few canon scenes they had.

It may be absolute crack that would never, ever happen, but it doesn't matter because I'll still enjoy the potential and fanon stuff people come up with for the relationship.

Because it's Canon - Taki Tachibana and Mitsuha Miyamizu from Kimi no Na wa/Your Name...This was a tricky one I contemplated over for some time, because this category has always been difficult for me to pick out. Like I said before, I don't like to ship relationships solely on being canon. However, I had a strangely difficult time questioning why I supported these two so they earned a spot here. I guess it could be because with movies, they typically only last an hour and a half so the development tends to differ from many other forms of entertainment. The movie focuses a lot on Taki and Mitsuha's developing relationship regarding their Freaky Friday-esque situation, with the twist being they've never actually met before (to the point they live in completely different towns with different lifestyles). You also see them experience the other's life and their confusion about what had happened because of how dream-like the experience is. I also put them here because I want to recommend this movie to others, because it is such a beautiful, engaging story. Maybe the premise is familiar, but the execution is quite the subtle surprise how they pull it off.

Because of Subtext - Soul Eater Evans and Maka Albarn from Soul Eater. This is literally the only one that hasn't changed from my previous meme. They also could fit in opposites/plausible, but what fits for subtext is how close and intimate they are. I guess it's a given because they're partners, whom are meant to be close anyway, but they are especially close. They have one of the deepest relationships in the series even after a couple times when their partnership was put to the test. While there is no confirmation of romantic feelings, you can feel that there is something very special between them.

Because of Fanwork - Courtney and Gwen from the Total Drama series. I moved them over from a different category here. Initially, I used to only ship them as a BROTP, until some certain fanarts (a lot made by actually) started to pique my interest. After some time, I became Gwentney/Courn trash. They're my yuri OTP, as well as an interchangeable BROTP. I love their chemistry either way.

BECAUSE I CAN - Naruto Uzumaki and Sakura Haruno from the Naruto series. I know they are not canon, but I will always support these two. I always liked their bond, how Naruto actually liked Sakura for who she was, and even Sakura herself grows to appreciate Naruto as a person over time. They used to be under the plausible category, but figured since the ending confirms they will only be fanon, this would be more fitting. Because...it doesn't matter, because I can ship NaruSaku if I want to.

*As a disclaimer regarding this ship and the overall toxic shipping fandom Naruto has, please do not insult and go after me for my preferences like many others have before. It's very rude and childish, especially when you hold me responsible for those rabid NS shippers who want Kishimoto dead or whatever when I never did such a thing. Just stop, leave the sane NS fans (or well, any rational person who disliked the ending and/or the canon couples) alone. I could easily say some fans from the other side aren't too peachy either like every other fandom that exists because there is no much thing as an innocent, perfect fandom. Because apparently many people in shipping fandoms don't understand the concept of different opinions/interpretations.

If you're a sane NH/SS fan, good for you for showing respect. I may not agree with or understand your views, but I won't hold that against you as a person unless you be an ass about it. I don't want to be more afraid to express my thoughts than I already do, because it seems people want me to feel bad for my taste in ships just because it isn't canon. Claiming all NS fans are salty, delusional, should be shot, laughed at, scorned; is just wrong...You should be happy you ultimately got what you wanted instead of rub your victory in others' faces.

I'll say the same can be applied to any other ship. Don't bash me for my overall preferences. You're allowed to disagree, just don't be a dick.*
