Chapter 2: Her first words

Tommy was watching from the transparent window at the young girl that was playing with her toy figures. Tommy noticed that her figures were all from video games and from some cartoons she said had mentioned that she watched. Tommy was also trying to figure out this therapist named David.

"Where have I seen this man before?" Tommy asked himself.

Tommy kept trying to think till he saw David get up and opened the door.

"We are ready for you but walk slowly. She is a little skittish."

Tommy nodded and walked in as he was told.

"Chelsie…hun I have someone here to meet you." David said happily.

Chelsie looked up and saw Tommy. She hurried and dropped her figures and was frightened and tries to run to Lydia. David hurried and gently grabbed her and pulled her into a hug. Chelsie let out a loud noise like a scream and was reaching for Lydia. Chelsie started to tear up and cry, Lydia ran near her.

"Shhh…its okay he isn't here to hurt you" David said softly.

Chelsie didn't listen and kept trying to grab for Lydia. Tommy wasn't expecting this sort of a reaction from her. Lydia asked softly,

"May I?"

David nodded and let go of Chelsie. Chelsie ran toward Lydia and hugged her tightly and Lydia returns the hug. Chelsie was whimpering and buried her face into Lydia's shoulder. Chelsie fell to her knees and Lydia followed to make sure Chelsie didn't fall too hard. Chelsie was shivering and Lydia was rubbing her back. David scratched his head,

"I guess it was too soon?"

"Too soon?" Tommy said and looked at David.

Tommy walked over and got down on one of his knees and was staring at Chelsie. Chelsie was hiding her face and Tommy said,

"I didn't mean to scare you."

Lydia gently tapped Chelsie's shoulder and whispered in her ear,

"He is talking to you."

Chelsie moved her face to look at Tommy with one of her eyes. Tommy smiled and said,

"My Name is Tommy Oliver. It's nice to meet you."

Tommy sat down with his legs crossed like children would do. Chelsie slowly did the same and Tommy held his hand out with his fingers pointed up at the ceiling. Chelsie placed her hand the same way and studied his hand then softly said,

"T…T…o…m..m..y"

Tommy eyes grew wide and smiled and Chelsie smiled and said,

"T..ommy"

"That's right and what is your name?"

"C..h..elsie.." she replied.

Lydia was happy and was in tears. David was as well and slowly walked toward his notepad he was using for her session and put down only a few words which was,

-Her first word she ever said was: "Tommy" and her own name.-
