Third picture, this time from ThunderClan, also featuring a rather rehashed Redtail as created by Iycanroc herself, who wanted a more uniquely chimera look for him~ He's still gorgeous so who am I to complain.Redtail would do anything for his little princess, so if Sandkit were to want his belly for a bed, he will gladly oblige.

I love Redtail's chimera looks. But, his ginger looks here are so handsome! I really love how he looks. Very nice. I also noticed he has one blue eye and it looks like one side of his face doesn't have stripes. Is he still chimera, but just a ginger one? Or is it just some odd mutation? Either way he looks great.

Yes, the eyes are different to sort of... nail the point home that he's a chimera, but it's rather easy to explain. Redtail, for all intents and purposes as a chimera, is the fused result of what would otherwise have been one red tabby kitten, and one solid fawn kitten, which is why he now looks much more reddish than his last black-red version. (Makes it easier to differentiate him from merely being an "odd tortie" now that he has two colours that technically can't appear together, since red is non-dilute and fawn is)
As for the eyes, mostly they're cosmetic - but you could always surmise that his red side has a blue eye maybe because it carries a hidden white spotting gene, or there was a defect on the red side of his genes. Either explanation works.

Oh...hello new Redtail. He looks a lot like Squirrelflight in some of your old artwork of her (like the one with her and the tiny Three). And Sandkit looks so peaceful and content...who could blame her with that thick bed.
But how does Squirrel get long fur? Sandstorm has short hair and so does Firestar...but in the end...itβs lovely ^^.

Oh that's simple. The grace of long fur is that it can be inherited even if the parents themselves are shorthaired - simply put both Fire and Sand have one longhair gene each that is overruled by the shorthaired gene they also carry - but Squirrel inherited only one longhair gene from each and voilΓ‘ longhaired bby~

He still looks handsome even without his black-and-ginger chimera pelt. But of course there should be a teensy bit of resemblance, they are kin after all and Firestar tends to hog all the glory in his family.Β

Indeed it is, and I'm happy to abuse it all the time haha. Well, it's not really possible with body types - like the extremes of Orientals and buff Persians without breeding for it specifically and over several generations, but there are certain features that can just pop up. The chocolate colour gene, for example - it hails from an Oriental bloodline somewhere, but it's been transferred into a lot of cats by this point that you needn't have Oriental parents to achieve it. Yeah they'll still share that same Oriental ancestor back the line, but that could be fifty-sixty years ago.
Another point would be random mutations, new ones. Similar perhaps to established mutations, f.ex. America was first with blue-eyed non-white cats, the Ojos gene. However a like mutation has also surfaced in Russia and its nearby countries, with no connection between them, saying that yeah, here we are looking at two different mutations, completely random, but which does basically the exact same thing.

Today...was a day of discovery and breakthroughs in regards to my warrior headcanons...and I regret nothing! But now I am kind of winding down, considering small stuff...right now my focus is on Redwillow.Β
His mate is Ivytail...and OMG the design I found for her would blow you away (she looks almost like a real live Macavity from the Cats Musical). Guess Russetfur's foreign genes were not enough to combat the Persian in Blackstar and Minkshade's bloodline.
But...well Redwillow is impossible unless he is a chimera. Or just one of those rare male torties who are then meant to be sterile...but I kind of like the idea of him and Ivy as a couple...and their babies work out (just need to tweak him).

If you want him to stay true to his unusual tortie coat, then yeah, he could be rather similar. Depends on the available genes in his family line, and what genes meshed when his chimerism happened. Like he could also be red-black, red-black-white, tabby-nontabby, or even red-cream too. The only thing two things one has to bear in mind when creating a chimera is figuring out which genes belong to which embryo (f.ex. if he's red-black-white, is the white bit tied up to the red part, or the black part etc) and ofc, which of these two created his sex cells. Cuz unlike a proper tortie, chimeras breed true for only one colour.

Oh...that may get complicated real fast...maybe you could offer me some advice if I provided their kits. Pretty much just took canon characters who randomly popped off...Oh and Tigerheart just gets one mate (Shrewfoot). I saw a line in Night Whispers that had Owlclaw and Olivenose laying close together and decided to make them a couple. Tiger don't deserve it ~
So Redwillow and Ivytail have one daughter, Stoatfur who is a tortie. One of their sons is Spikefur who is dark brown and the other is Buster (formerly called Rippletail for some uncreative reason). I need to give him a new description, since Ivytail is no longer a calico, but is a tortoiseshell smoke (and gorgeous).
Yeah, those are their kids...so to get them all...what would Redwillow pass?

Indeed it could, but yeah I could help you if you give me a basic outline of his children's coats - and his parents too, cuz I could hardly assign him a gene he has no way of inheriting right hehe.Β

Hmm right, now what do we need to achieve this... going from this, really there's not much Redwillow NEEDS to have in his coat for his children to work bc Ivytail has it mostly all covered with her tortie coat. If either Spike or Ripple are tabbies then part of Redwillow's chimerism needs to be at least 50% tabby - say 50% of him is solid, then the opposite bit is tabby. F.ex - solid black-tabby red chimera. Or if you want him to look more radical, perhaps solid blue-tabby red chimera, since dilute-nondilute aren't realistic right? Oooor if you wish him to look almost completely red, how about cream-red? 50% cream 50% red? That's only possible in chimerism anyway and makes him true to his name.

Okay, some parents (and siblings) for Redwillow.Β His father is Snaketail (black (brown) tabby) and his mother is Snowbird (a blue-cream tortoiseshell), Redwillow would be the grandson of Blackstar and Russetfur (ouch). His brothers are Owlclaw and Scorchfur, sisters are Bluebellkit, Berryheart, and Cloverfoot. Snowbirdβs VoS kits were revamped to being the kits of Tigerheart and Shrewfoot instead.
Wow, that is actually what I need. Spikefur is solid and Ripple has two tabby kittens, Wasptail is a solid calico.
