This is my process of painting. More or less.I don't think I'm the right person to teach because I'm such a noob (even after so many years...). Also, this is messy and probably has many english mistakes.
Still, I hope it's useful for someone.
I used the last two pictures I posted as examples.

Very cool! But are you painting directly over your Japan sketch layer, in the same sketch layer or on the background layer with your mood color?

The sketch layer is on multiply. The colors are in a new layer. (Sorry for the late reply)
