Does slightly editing the base yourself count as frankendolling? Like anti-aliasing the lines more and changing the colour, removing some of the top part of the head because it would get in the way of hair or changing the expression a bit?

Would it? You just have to get the white to be transparent, check preserve opacity and fill it in with black and there you have it. A black line.

u go to ur paint proram ( wut ever u use) paint the individual frames save them the go to the site click frame animation and put in the individual pictures

BMP and PNG make higher resolution. That's why you see most artists using PNG now a days on DA, because DA doesn't accept BMP.

but it's harder to edit them in a simple program like ms paint because there are too many colors in it :/ u could save it as 16 colors first then edit it but who wants to go through all that .w.'

It means when you go to animate it, put down three copies of that frame.
