Photographed a couple days ago. A bull Elk pauses in the morning sunlight of the Moraine Valley area of Rocky Mountain National Park to take in his surroundings. Makes me sad that the area which I took this image is now "off limits" but I snuck in anyhow. Hard to get a clean shot in this area these days but I managed! He was a big boy and he sure bugled loud enough to let those who were sleeping that it was time to get up out of bed.John De Bord Photography Β© 2012 www.jdebordphoto.com

One of the best Elk shots I've seen Johnny, really captured the essesnce of the a Bull in the rut, all the stress and ego on the line. I want to catch up w you all one of these years and get back out there during the rut.

I've lived in a small town which is about 5-10 mins away from the National Park so I see big elks like this year round. But it's been a long time since I've just seen a lovely image like this. Nicely done.
