Update: In preparation for a recent art show, I went through some old pieces and touched them up for printing. This is more like I imagined it originally.

Sorry I haven't really been around. School and work have been keeping me pretty busy. But I graduate in two weeks, so that's pretty exciting!
Anyway, I was playing around with style here. I like it. It's relatively quick and fun.
There isn't really a story behind this. It's just an idea I woke up with a few weeks ago, and I actually got around to coloring it. That never happens.

Oh man... this was so long ago, I'm not really sure. x'D Probably 10-20 hours. I seem to spend the same amount of time on every piece of art, only each one is better than the last (ideally). But I never seem to get faster. It's something I'm trying to work on.

hmmm... if i may, could i ask, do you do your fur roughly and then add detail on a seprete layer over the flat color and then add shading?
just guessing, it looks to me like a good way to help my art... unless im wrong?
or do you add the detail on top of the shading with a lowerd opacity on your brush?
im just trying to understand difrent ways of doing fur, also, what do you think is the best size for an image this detailed 2000-2000 or so, bigger maybe?
hehe, sorry for all the questions, im just trying to learn a bit. XD
also, im sorry if the answors are somewhere, i guess i couldnt find em. XP

Sorry for the long delay. 
however, I do use distinct shadow/flat color/highlight layers when cel shading. And something like this is about 3000 to 4000px max dimension. Let me know if you have any other questions. Hope that helps!

WOOOOOOW! Lol it's amazing, i love the expression on the wolves's faces, the texture of the fur and you can really feel what they are feeling. The picture draw you in. I like how the lighter colored wolf is running into the light and the expression on his/her face. It's very impressive, well done.

what i get from this is, its like a test of faith sort of thing, the black and whight wolf run through this place, the black wolf has faith he will get through and is not touched by the black stuff(lol that sounds silly. XD) and the whight wolf has doubts and the black starts to grab him/her.
yeah, sounds cheesey but thats what i thught of when i read the name and looked at the pic. XD

I'm not sure that The Sight every crossed my conscious mind while working on this, but I've certainly read it so it may have been an influence. XD On the other hand, that book wasn't the first instance of a black and white wolves. It's a pretty common theme. Thank you for the comment!
