I like this stamp! I've always enjoyed fandom. There will always be plenty of bad apples in the fandoms. Different fandoms have it worse than others, and everyone has their problems in it.

It's absolutely okay to disassociate with fandom because you want to avoid issues. I have friends like that. But I have still met very nice people in fandom that I talk to, and I've also met bad apples who I cut contact with, or just don't talk to anymore because of poor behavior! You get these people everywhere, even OUTSIDE of fandom.

A lot of people treat fandom as if it's the only place where assfuckery drama (Pardon my french) and messed up crap happens. It really isn't limited to fandom, and I wish people would stop being so blindsided about that. It happens in the real world, it happens outside of fandoms on DA, you just need to learn where to tread. After you deal with dramas online or offline, you learn to avoid it better because life is a learning experience. It only makes life interesting, doesn't it? We all have stories to tell.

It's one thing to dislike fandom because you want to avoid it just because they don't feel like dealing with it or just prefer to stay out of it, though it is another thing when I hear "omg fandom ruined a show for me, that's why I stay away from it noooooes all the people in fandom are idiots and faggots and suck cause they draw stuff I dun liek' is a bit too ignorant for me to hear from others. Putting people down just isn't right.

They won't give it a chance because they saw a yaoi/non-canon picture, when really that's inevitable to happen from any fandom.

I think the issue lies in people taking fandom too seriously, which in turn can make others feel turned off from fandom, which is understandable. You just learn to stay away from those people if you are part of a fandom.

It's all personal choice, and it doesn't mean JUST because you're not part of fandom, I won't talk to you. It's not some exclusive clique, like some think. (There are cliques everywhere on DA regardless of fandom or not) you just avoid the exclusive people in general and move on!

Fandom can be such a blast.
And it's existed long before the internet. *points at Soaps Weekly and Enquirer magazines on grocery store shelf* That's people obsessing over non-canon couples too, and no one thinks their most women who support magazines like that are weird.

We just... take it a few steps further. :3
