Full-page book illustration assignment for school.I did a chapter from Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones. In this particular chapter, Michael and Sophie are trying to catch a falling star in the marshes, trying to solve an advanced spell that Howl has left for his apprentice. The star would rather die than be saved by Michael. Honestly, I just wanted to draw the star.... I like what I came up with his design... but the colours and the illustration look like crap. I need to paint more but stupid grad film keeps ramming me in the back, demanding that I keep working on it despite my growing hatred towards it.... Urgh, I wish for and dread for the day it is due.

I heard the book was a lot better. I think the plot was a little chaotic in the film. I always felt like the film did a great job of character development, but it felt like Miyazaki didn't quite focus enough in one direction with the storyline.

Thank you very much. Yeah I had fun designing the star character, I got inspired by ancient depictions of the sun for it. Thanks, I'll be glad when it's over, it's been an interesting experience but I really want to jump back into digital painting.
