Description Full-page book illustration assignment for school.

I did a chapter from Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones. In this particular chapter, Michael and Sophie are trying to catch a falling star in the marshes, trying to solve an advanced spell that Howl has left for his apprentice. The star would rather die than be saved by Michael. Honestly, I just wanted to draw the star.... I like what I came up with his design... but the colours and the illustration look like crap. I need to paint more but stupid grad film keeps ramming me in the back, demanding that I keep working on it despite my growing hatred towards it.... Urgh, I wish for and dread for the day it is due.

Thank you. And yep it's from the book, while the movie had its charm, I enjoyed the book's plot and characters a lot more.

You're most welcome, my friend.

I heard the book was a lot better. I think the plot was a little chaotic in the film. I always felt like the film did a great job of character development, but it felt like Miyazaki didn't quite focus enough in one direction with the storyline.

This is such an interesting take on the falling stars - on a different note, I am quite jealous of your hand-drawing skills!

This is very cool and not quite like anything else I've seen illustrating the falling star in HMC. Good job and good luck with your grad project. "Every journey has an end, even an endless one."

Thank you very much. Yeah I had fun designing the star character, I got inspired by ancient depictions of the sun for it. Thanks, I'll be glad when it's over, it's been an interesting experience but I really want to jump back into digital painting.
