Jeepers this took me a while to finish! I payed a lot of attention to the hands this time around (one of my weaknesses) and I went back to the outline like 5 times XD. But this is Lucy Heartfilia from the show Fairy tail and she is summoning her iconic Zodiac Spirit: Aquarius.This picture should be large enough to use as a computer background.Β

Way to go. I'm no critic when it comes to making custom wallpapers. Usually I try to make the whole thing from scratch rather than add some stock images, but this does exactly what it's supposed to do. It shows the basic design of the characters, makes them the focus and puts them in a colored background that doesn't clash with the characters. Rearranging images and colors is an art form in itself. That's what graphic artists do. It's a decent start, especially since you drew the characters yourself. It's just that the outlines look too wiggly and scratchy. Try to make the lines smoother and bolder, and complement the colors they contain. Just watch the show and take notes. Also, since Lucy looks closer in this image, she needs to be in front of Aquarius, rather than just cut off from behind her tail fin. Seems like you wanted an excuse not to have to draw the rest of the body. One more thing, we all start this way with how you copy images from the show line for line. I've copied a lot of work too when I was younger, but this could have been a good change to draw the characters from scratch. Try to experiment by drawing them in your own way. If you still need to look at references, go ahead (especially when learning to draw hands), just try little by little not to be completely accurate to the references. Just take what you need to develop your own style. You don' t have to do this right away. I'm just saying now's a good time to practice.

Yeah you're probably right about a lot of things. I've been getting into the habit of when doing fan art just copying Β a picture from the internet rather then doing my own. I need to figure out something with the outline though. No matter what I try with the tools I have it continues this jaggedness that I dislike.
