I don't know where he came from. This is Joyce Hamil. He kind of manifested from the fact that I tend to play as guy characters with female names. Then he attached himself to the same universe as Xavier Ploshiun [link] and then I dunno what happened.

Joyce doesn't have a set team. He's a field researcher, so is raising, like, 20+ pokemon simultaneously, switching them in and out of the PC. He catches and raises just about everything he comes across, though his pikachu, Tesla (Tes for short), is often in his team. He is 21, in college, and is thus a poor college student so hasn't gotten much of a chance to travel outside of Kanto. I bet Xavier's the type who would get paid to leave.

Since he raises all his pokemon in the wild, Joyce is always interested in pitting them against gyms. If he finds a gym to be horrifically lacking, he will catch a wild pokemon of the same type that is clearly stronger and let it loose in that gym. He's... kinda a jerk that way.

Joyce thinks all pokemon are cute (for goodness sake, even raticate and jynx, etc), so when he comes across a REALLY cute one, he is instantly immobilized by cute overload.
