Hopeless

=== Description ===
Ever since I saw the stylized design of Barack Obama's 'Hope' poster by American contemporary designer Shepard Fairey, I immediately fell in love with his use of striking solids next to softer pastel colors all brilliantly used to give a great sense of depth and boldness to a minimalist portrait.

As such, this is a self-portrait dedicated to a great design from a great designer, illustrating that I don't really know anything.

===Art Notes===
The trickiest part of this design was the actual pose part. Trying to take a mirrored photo of yourself at the same angle that Obama was looking is already hard enough, trying to nail a good 'confused' expression every time was even harder. After the photo was taken it became the classic vectoring process.

There was also an issue with Obama's hair making up most of the weight of the dark colors that the upper portion of the poster was occupying, and since I have buzz-cut hair, I had to thicken the darker outlines around that area to convey the same overall weight. Lucky for me, the solid red lends itself well to simulating buzz-cut hair in this minimalist design.
Another issue was that the lighting on my photo and the lighting on Obama's photo was the exact opposite, so a lot of the lighting effect is just a combination of guessing, trial-and-error and style-copying from the original.
I was too lazy to go find the exact font used in the 'HOPE' poster, so I just retraced and re-used the 'H' of 'HOPE' and modified the 'O' into a 'U' and the 'P' into a '?'

While a lot of the little details did constantly get lost and required retrieval every so often during the vectoring phase, all-in-all it was a lot easier to lay out than I expected it to be.

Glad you like it!
Part of the fun was trying to pull my face in wonky poses.

"Illustrating that I don't really know anything." Kinda strange, the same goes for Obama.
