A small drawing I painted for the show at l'Antre d'Alice in Melun.
It had been such a long time I hadn't worked with large, matte black spaces! I'd forgotten how nice and fun they are!

Oddly enough, my friend and I were talking about eyelash extensions earlier. I never knew you could get lace ones in real life!!!

I guess you could find about *anything* fitted as eyelashes in real life, in fashion shows and such... but indeed I doubt they'd be really practical for day-to-day wear.

Heh, you know, thee ARE actually false eyelashes madeo lace! I don't know who'd wear them though, and with what outfits.

Beautiful work! When I look at this piece, I feel wonderment at her impossibly long intricate lashes, and a little uncomfortable with her forhead/hair. I really love how I never know what to expect from you next. You're always thinking and developing new and interesting ideas. Keep up the imaginative work!

Yes, her forehead and hairline is a bit strange. I made this one in one stand because I really wanted it finished for the show, and I didn't spot the mistake!

but well.. i feel that this piece lacks detail. the arms seem too flat and 2 dimensional, making her look somewhat like a paper doll.. but other than that, i like the colours u've used.

Yes, it definitely is. I usually try not to make a picture in one session and give myself at least a couple of days to step back and see that kind of mistakes... but I did this one in a rush, and didn't spot that her forehead is WAY too big.

Hi, I love your art! but I have to be honest about this picture; it dissapointed me because compared to your older illustrations it just doesn't look like you put as much thought, time, or effort into this picture.
To be blunt, it's kind of creepy.
I'm sorry if I'm being mean, I really do love your art and your gallery.

It's interesting because I got both reactions: some people who tell me it's their favourite of mine in a long time, and some who really dislike it... I guess that when you make the decision not to make "pretty pictures" but try and put some of yourself in them, you eventually have to admit everybody's not going to like it!
You are right on the fact that I probably rushed it a little bit, because I wanted it finished for the show and was in a hurry. On the other hand, it's much, much smaller than anything I've drawn in the past months (most of my other works are 12x18 inches or larger, and this one is 5x7), so it's difficult to fit huge amounts of details in such a small picture!

The picture still came out very good and I would have put it in my favorites if I didn't know it was from you; It's just that your such a great artist and I can't fav something that I don't think is truly "kmye quality" or not up to your usual illustration standards. After all, I can't fav or leave a "great work" comment on all your illustrations because if I did then you might not strive to get better and improve as an artist.
