Description

One of the starry cats has lead you to something, what is it?

Below the cloudy night sky, Dusty lounged high upon a large stone. Around him, the salty air ran through the tall grass like a river. Causing the earth to sway as if it were alive. Suddenly, a soft light moved quickly out of the corner of his eye. Shooting up, Dusty looked around wildly. Eyes wide and fur bristling. At last he spotted... something. Tilting his head, he couldn't quite believe what he was seeing. Three little kittens, white as the moon, shifting below his perch. Instead of feeling afraid, the young tom was almost drawn to them. He felt himself move against his will, calmly padding down the stones to the mysterious figures. When he got close, the three of them smiled and pressed their noses to his cheeks. Their touch was harshly cold, even compared to the chilly night air. Dusty furrowed his brow in confusion. He opened his mouth to speak but before he could make a sound, the kits took off in a sprint. Pulling him along with them.

The three kits briskly led him through the tall grass of the plains and over sand covered rocks until they reached the ocean shore. The group moved with him so quickly he felt like he would pass out from exhaustion. It was low tide, so the sand stretched out for what seemed like forever. The crashing of the waves distant and serene. The kittens didn't let him rest. Tails were constantly at his side guiding him across the hard wet sand. They finally slowed down once they reached a small decline surrounded by smooth rock. Weathered away from the constant waves. As the cats got closer, Dusty realized they had led him to a small, glowing puddle. The kits raced off ahead of him, tumbling and pouncing with excitement. Dusty, breathing heavily, let out a soft laugh and followed closely behind. Stepping lightly. Once he reached the edge, he hesitated. Looking up at the three younglings who were now eyeing him expectantly. Carefully, he touched his paws to the glowing water. At the contact, he felt a chill roll up his leg all the way to the tips of his ears. Making his fur stand on end. With a burst of courage, Dusty stepped out to the center of the puddle and sat down. The water barely reaching the top of his toes. Around him, the starlit kittens danced and played. Their feet were never submerged within the water, but instead seemed to walk on top as if it were ice. Dusty took in this moment, sitting among the fireflies and the ocean air. His eyes watered and he let them flutter shut. Smiling softly, he felt a purr rumble deep within his ribs. He will not be spending this night alone.

Hello guys!!
This little thing was created for the Rekindled-Ruins Winter event! All we had to do was draw one of our characters interacting with the spirits of starclan who have come down to visit the living.
Now, I didn't have any relatives for Dusty to reconnect with. At first I was planning on doing something with Oliver, but the idea of Dusty spending this night alone just made me too sad lol <3. I like to think that these three kits took a liking to the big ol' grump, and insisted on making sure he had some friends to play with. No cat left behind!

I'm no writer, but I did try to write out what I was picturing in my head, and I hope it turned out ok ! <3 This event was a TON of fun to plan and execute. I'm so excited to see how the rest turn out!
