Because I'm feeling so inspired while playing Ocarina of Time 3D, the remake of my FAVORITE Zelda game that I felt like I'd go insane if I didn't pause and draw SOMETHING for it.

Long, long ago I wanted to draw the scene where Link comes to the stump where Saria used to play her ocarina, right before he learns the Minuet of Forest... Because, for me, it was one of the defining moments of the game.
Odd, maybe, but it resonates within me somehow... and always has, even when I was a child playing the game for the very first time.
Back then, my art skills were nowhere near good enough for me to feel satisfied with my work, though. It never came out the way I wanted it to.

Oddly enough, I'm really fond of this artwork. No, it's not my best. Yeah, I drew it fast and didn't really pay too much attention to perfection. I went for the "feel" more than anything, because that's what strikes me about the scene.
And hey, it's better than my old attempts even in it's current state.

I may draw something similar when I'm not hurt, but for now I'm satisfied.

...Now, I really need to give my hand a break.

...

But that's OK, because we'll be friends forever... won't we?

Saria will always be... your friend...

Thanks, it really just involved a lot of layers of overlay and luminescence. ^^ I do like how she came out as well, though.

I remember when I played the original Ocarina of Time on N64 being still a kid, I've never been a fan of Zelda, but I must admit that part was very emotive

It's actually starting to get better. ^^ I'm not wearing a brace today, just bandages, and that makes it easier to type... But yeah, it's still a little too difficult to draw properly.

I had to make something, though, I was too inspired and emotional to let it go to waste... XD

I was eight the first time I saw it being played by a friend and ten when I got my own... And it took about a year to beat it completely. Wow, it really made an impact on me...

I agree, it was fun. ^^

Lol, I actually like Navi a little better (as odd as that sounds...)
As annoying as she can be, when I was a kid playing for the first time I cried at the end when she went away.

I know, but I was older when I played that game and kind of saw that one coming. I wasn't expecting Navi to fly away like she did...

This was a heartbreaking scene alright. And one that makes me think of where Saria is before she can hear the call(after Link goes through the temple). I've only played the 3DS version of it.

I think, if I remember correctly, the Kokiri children say something to Link about how Saria left for the temple when a foul wind started to blow, so she'd already gone through it before he got there... If you call her with Saria's Song, she'll tell you she's at the Temple waiting for you. She just wasn't sure she wanted to become a sage.

It is heartbreaking, though. It's neat how, even without having any words in that part of the scene, the feelings are conveyed...

To me, OoT was the saddest game in the series, because Link loses his child hood and all of his friends. OoT was originally supposed to be a prequel to A Link to the Past, but that was scrapped after the number of liberties they took caused a massive continuity error.

I know, that's what makes it stand out to me. Nothing's sadder than wandering around the "child" time and knowing the hardships everyone's going to face... but especially wondering how Link is affected.

Some people still think it is, but the early games are less connected than the later ones.

[link] This is one example of how Link is affected by fate, there is tragedy, loss, and a happy ending. I guess you could say they "defied fate".

I've read that one before, it is very good and very sad.

It stands out because it's one of the few where Link stays with Saria, but neither of them change. Saria doesn't become Hylian and Link doesn't become a Kokiri.

(Though, technically, in mine she doesn't "become Hylian" either, I just have a different theory about the Kokiri's agelessness...)

Majora's Mask was also an awesome game, a 3D remake would be really nice!
I've never played Link's Awakening, but it sounds like a good game - a remake would give me a chance to play it...
