Description This was my book cover for Frankenstein. In the story, there's an Oak tree in the Dr.'s courtyard. It gets struck by lightning and is split and burned. The Dr. realizes that lightning will power the creature. He often stares at the the blasted oak as a symbolic reminder of how his life has been broken.

Thank you. I applied the large vertical strokes w/ gesso to the wood panel. Then I painted smaller horizontal strokes w/ oil paint. At the end I used sandpaper to crosshatch the brushwork, creating that scratchy texture. Sandpaper and Oil paint
