Some years ago,DC and Marvel collaborated on two retro-style superhero team-ups....Batman and Captain America met in a story that took place during WWII,and Superman and the Hulk met in a story that seemed to be set in the early 1960s (the Hulk spoke normally,only Rick Jones knew who he really was and there were a few pop-culture references to that time)...I'd love to see a similar adventure featuring these two!

I thought they did this back in the 70's with the giant sized comics they were running. Maybe it is the Superman vs Spiderman one I'm thinking of?

They did two Superman/Spider-Man crossovers in 1976 and 1981, so probably those. Also there was Batman vs Hulk and Uncanny X-Men/New Teen Titans around the same time.
