Description Acrylic on canvas, 16x20 inches.

A new piece.

Related music is here.

The cloud-capp'd towers, the gorgeous palaces,
The solemn temples, the great globe itself,
Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve,
And, like this insubstantial pageant faded,
Leave not a rack behind: We are such stuff
As dreams are made on, and our little life
Is rounded with a sleep.

Shakespeare

Or, as Keb would say; Indigo is blue...

This reminds me of what I read the other day in Pop Mechanics about how they have built this computer that can mimic the synaptic functions of a brain. They have made it large enough to mimic a rat's brain so far. It uses a million gigahertz of power. As much electricity as a small city. They can't make it the size of a human brain because it would use to much power and cost a billion dollars a day to run!

What is it going to be like when we have that capability? Is it going to be like this? This reminds me of a biological computer. What it will be when it has its own mind. Will the soul become liquid? Will life become translucent? Is Ram Das right? Will Buddha be programed karma? Will surreal be the real?

ps.. the computer is named "Deep Blue"!

Rat's brain = sleep - eat - crap - make holes in things - spread plague. We pay politicians about the same, and they're much less productive

Ultimately, these are unanswerable questions... but it is a bit of irony that the vanguard of computer technology has a name that sounds like a 1970's porn flic.

LloydG In reply to kolaboy [2010-05-10 00:10:56 +0000 UTC]

Haha, right.

I started to read that book when I was at school - for some reason, Ayn Rand had enjoyed a surge in popularity at the time. However, I'm pretty sure I was defeated by the book's length. I didn't realise there was a movie - maybe I should watch it and get some belated closure.

Odd thing, but I came to Ayn Rand via Rush's 2112 album.

Rand's preachy dialogue doesn't translate particularly well into the film medium, but Cooper and Raymond Massey keep it interesting
