I've been watching He-Man on Qubo. A lot cheesier than I remember it but still very entertaining.Of all the characters Skeletor was always the most interesting one to me. This is a quick warm up sketch of him. I have some other way out ideas for what I would do with him. This was just more my Walt Simonson does Skeletor riff.

I'm curious, if you really had the opportunity to redesign any property you wanted to, which would you pick? Believe it or not, a few weeks ago I did a Spawn sketch with a 'redesigned' costume. I picked Spawn because I was never a fan of it! I couldn't see myself attempting to redesign something that I love, like Spider-Man or Speed Racer, etc. Besides, most of the stuff I love is already brilliantly designed. (Hey, I got a sharp eye for great stuff, what can I say!!)
But something that never appealed to me, well, I find it amusing that I would redesign it into something I like!
Btw, I loathe the word 're-imagining'. That's all!!

That's a darn good question. I get where you are coming from. If it's already awesome..why would an artist want to put their two cents in. I would like to design G.I. Joe even though I really like it. I just think I have a take on it that would be cool. I just really want to play in the G.I. Joe sandbox.

If you get the Qubo channel you should check it out. Strange, strange show. 80's cartoons in general were freaky.

Got him looking pretty bad-ass here. Skeletor was always a really cool villain, though I actually liked him best in the newer series (from the late 90s?); he was right bloody insane in that one.

I totally need to watch the second series. I actually dig Hordak from She-Ra. I may take a shot at redesigning him.
