Description While I was out walking, I happened to stumble upon a rack of potted seeds, some of which were just beginning to sprout. I like the life that the angle gives this photo.

Aww, thanks! You can find some of the most amazing stuff just walking around if you keep a sharp eye out.

The good artist must be an observer, right?

Well, I have absolutely no artistic talent at all, but I can picture things in my mind as seen through the lens of my camera, so I can sometimes spot cool shots when I'm walking around. XD

How is THAT not an artistic talent? A literal photographic memory! XD

Well, it's not nearly as artistic as some of the people around here who can DRAW nicer-looking things than I can find to photograph. xD It also seems just a wee bit cheap that I can go back and change my exposures and stuff after the fact. I view my photography as a hobby, not an art. Some people ARE real artists with their cameras, though.

Well, it depends. Yes, a person that draws or paints does capture the art of nature, but you do it in a more direct way. I think the choice of what pictures to take and how to take them is just as important.

Perhaps, perhaps. It just kinda seems like the painter or whatnot has to commit a lot more of their time and effort to the issue than a photographer. At least, than this photographer. XD

Well, perhaps that's true, but the painter is at a loss because he or she can either imitate what nature already does better or inaccurately record something that's going on in his or her imagination. Photography has the advantage of capturing a real moment in a really artistic way. I like photography for that reason: it's so REAL. Although I suppose there IS modeling, which... isn't...

That's either a loss or a gain, I suppose. They have the advantage of being able to paint what they SEE, not what exists. That lets them apply a lot more imagination and art to the work than a photograph. Photos are of course more accurate, but that's sort of beside the point. I suppose it also depends on what you consider artistic.
