Konoe Okada's Profile.

Konoe was born in Goldenrod City, although his childhood up until he was around 5 has been a blur. At age 6 he remembers Isaac Krieg, and at age 7, Verity Grey. These two people are his two lifelong friends, and he constantly keeps up on their well-being. His relationship with Isaac and Verity are also ambiguous, since he seems to treat Isaac as more than a friend, and Verity as more than a confidante. But in the end, only these two people know what Konoe really thinks about them, and perhaps, neither knows what the other is thinking, either.

Quiet and reserved, Konoe does not go out of his way to talk to others, nor does he expect people to talk to him. He doesn't have many friends, although it seems as though he does garner several admirers, most of which are girls in their teens. He doesn't mind them, although he prefers to be alone most of the time.

During battles, Konoe's quiet and soft-spoken personality seems to fade away as his persona is consumed in an atmosphere of deadly silence. He becomes a man of even fewer words, but at the same time commands his team with great efficiency and utmost finesse. He has lost few battles and is merciless to his opponents, and many still wonder how Konoe is able to command his Pokemon with as little as a word to carry out his wishes. Battles to Konoe are about strategy, speed and an iron defense. Strength and physical prowess are also upheld fairly well by the bulk of his party.

Outside of battles (and in his personal life), however, Konoe is a very insecure individual. Because he's had many traumatizing events throughout his childhood and early teens and twenties, Konoe has been diagnosed with insomnia and depression. Although not noticeable to most people, Konoe's insecurities are sometimes portrayed in his demeanor and actions. Some describe him as a mute/deaf, whereas others think he's a smug trainer that thinks too highly of himself to talk to others. He is neither. In fact, he rarely finds conversations with others, and is usually never found speaking with people because of his fear of hurting others. His only two confidantes, Isaac and Verity, are the only two known people that have made Konoe laugh or smile. No other trainer has been known to be close to Konoe.

The bandage on his arm represents something that only Isaac knows, something that Konoe had imprinted on himself physically so as not to forget his childhood. This is a secret between the two men, and only in Isaac's presence does Konoe unwrap his bandages.

His Pokemon.

Quasar (pronounced "Kway-zar") - Konoe took a baby Charmander in from the cold one night. It was sleeping outside, so he didn't know who it belonged to, and since no one claimed it, he raised it as his own. When Konoe turned 28, Quasar evolved into his final form, and, as he is bigger than most other Charizards, has protected his master since. Strongly defiant, loyal and protective, Quasar is actually Konoe's strongest Pokemon, and it doesn't hesitate to breathe fire and cause havoc when it senses that his master is in danger.

Poppyseed - Konoe met Poppyseed when he was only 7 years old, and he didn't catch him either. Rather, since Konoe didn't have any Pokemon (besides a rambunctious Lawrence that didn't obey him), he laid a food trap for the little Mareep and - in the end - successfully befriended it. Poppyseed loves cashews, and is often found wandering with Konoe on his journeys. He doesn't like loud noises or dark places, but when danger threatens, Poppyseed is always there to light a path to safety. Poppyseed only has two black rings around his neck (as opposed to three on other Ampharos), and only knows how to say "Papa" and "Mama" (to Konoe and Isaac, respectively).

Cherie (pronounced "Sher-ay") - A new addition to the team, Cherie is actually not really used in battles... or is she? Always found on Konoe's shoulder, Cherie loves pecking at Konoe's hair and ear, and loves to sleep in his hair. A strong little cloud with a stout personality, Cherie is loved by all of Konoe's Pokemon, and also by the people he meets. At night, Cherie is often found singing something sweet to Konoe, to help him fall asleep.

Gemity (pronounced "Je-mity") - Konoe's first Eevee evolved into a Vaporeon, and after it breeded with Jun's Umbreon, produced another Eevee. Konoe had decided to level it up and return it to Jun, but in the end, after being around it for 4 years, it evolved when Konoe was fast asleep, into an Umbreon. Startled and confused, Konoe had originally wanted to return this newly evolved Umbreon to his original owner, but Umbreon had refused to agree. Thus, Konoe named him Gemity, and it has always been around his new master since.

Belldandy - Belldandy was something Konoe had never seen before, until he discovered it after a trainer decided to give it to him to care for. Because Konoe was from Johto, he knew nothing about new Pokemon that appeared outside the Kanto-Johto regions, and so Belldandy's appearance marked a huge turning point in his life. It was also after Konoe obtained Belldandy that he found Cherie. Belldandy is a very stubborn Pokemon, and is also Konoe's youngest. He likes to eat Oran berries.

Lawrence - Konoe's first Pokemon, and the most violent of his party. People wonder why Konoe hides his neck from others when he walks around in public, and Lawrence is why. At age 5, when he first received a Totodile from his grandmother, the little guy didn't obey his new master, and, during one of his training exercises, attacked Konoe. The scar was from Lawrence's bone-crushing jaws, and if it weren't for the local police, Konoe might have died that day. In the end, however, Lawrence felt a sense of guilt as Konoe grew older and became stronger day by day. As Konoe turned 26, Lawrence finally lowered his head and laid his tail flat, signifying his unending loyalty to his master.
