Yes this is a very sweet and lovely story. Not muchΒ else to say, because that's what it is
(I too had thought the text was a bit small for easy reading. Funny, I never think of downloading to make the text larger! You definitely couldn't cut down on the text in this case. Every word counts.)

Can I ask your opinion, PL? Β Are my captions becoming heavy and bloated with story? Β I'm seeing other captions and they are almost all simple two or three paragraph "my [fill in the blank] turned me into a girl" descriptions while mine are these long and complex things. Β I don't know whether my caps are really what most people coming to Deviantart are looking for.
maybe it's because I'm always my worst critic and think my caps aren't all that great, I don't know.

I think you are your own worst critic, though that's sometimes not a bad thing But which of us can accurately judge our own work? Your recent work has been fairly long, and it's always wise to remember the dictum 'Less is more', but they certainly aren't 'heavy and bloated' You always tell a story, don't waste words, and no one can do a twist ending quite like you. If people don't want that, more fool them.
But I think they do want it. 300,000+ page views in 4 years ain't bad! You're not the only one who does good longer captions. See for example amandahawkins71 (perhaps you follow her already). All of hers are dialogue based, like a lot of yours. But make no mistake, Karen, you are maintaining the quality of your caps, and that puts them definitely in the top 10% of caps on dA, maybe even in the top 1%.

Apologies, but making the font bigger would make the caption itself bigger due to the length of the story, and I didn't want to cut down the story and sacrifice the quality.Β I create a product, and I leave it up to the audience to enjoy it or not.
