Description I found what a friend said very interesting when she saw my series of photos: "My grandmother once told me that women of her generation were raised to find a husband and have a family. She never even considered any other options because it didn't even register to her that there were any."

Sometimes us women still complain about our lot in lives, but at least we know that we have choices!

Can I use this picture on my blog? It reminds me of my life so much (minus the pregnancy belly, beautiful btw). And that little girl is gorgeous!

I just wish women weren't so heavily criticised for choosing to be a stay at home mum now.

It seems to be seen as betraying womankind.

I agree. And when you sit down and actually calculate it out, if I were to go to work (no degree) all the money I make would go right back into child care and gas. So what's the point of letting somebody else raise my kids(s)?

WolfessKiss In reply to KoontzPhotography [2008-06-23 17:08:57 +0000 UTC]

YES.
I would love to stay at home and raise my own kids, and watch them take their first steps and hear their first word.

A day care has like 20 babies in there, how much individual attention do you think your kid gets?...
its really stupid.

KoontzPhotography In reply to WolfessKiss [2008-06-23 17:43:51 +0000 UTC]

Exactly. I'm sure they learn social skills with the other kids, but I'd much rather be there with them

pendlestock In reply to KoontzPhotography [2008-06-18 21:15:32 +0000 UTC]

Exactly.

I couldn't be a stay at home mum as I'm the one who earns more so unfortunately I will have to go back to work once maternity pay ends (speaking hypothetically here as we're planning to start trying for a baby next year so it's on my mind!) but by then I'll have my degree and my wage will cover my boyfriend's so he's going to drop his hours and basically be a stay at home dad I know he'll love it and if I have to work I can't think of a better situation.

I know we're going to get shit over it though - me being dragged over the coals for working full time and him for taking the 'woman's' role, and yet if I stayed at home full time I'd get accused of being lazy so we really cannot win.

I hate being an adult sometimes

KoontzPhotography In reply to pendlestock [2008-06-18 22:22:25 +0000 UTC]

Well just the fact that you can arrance for one of you can stay at home rocks! That way you know that your values will be instilled in the child, and that one of you will be there to watch them grow (and take pictures and video of it!)
I'm doing school work for legal transcription because I can get a job and work at home, that way I can at least supplement my husband's income.

And awesome that you guys are planning for a little one in the near future!
