Description
I want to be free...New OC named Chou(meaning butterfly) and born out of boredom and a day of weird moods. XD
And yes, he is a little bit different in the head. Don't make fun!
Dedicated to for her weirdness and love for insane ppl and to Hochuuami(the scanlation group) because I realized how similar to Hochuuami this picture was. <3
*is supposed to be sleeping right now, but wanted to finish it*
This is also a PRACTICE in perspective, so any USEFUL critique on how to improve is much appreciated!

I LOVE the kind of muted colors on this, and the perspective is awesome, it really adds to the mood of the image. Also, I love his straight-jacket ( not sure how it's spelled XD; )... and just everything. ^^

This really struck me as significant, possibly fave-worthy, by I couldn't figure out why. It's so powerful that it must have a background story involving strong emotion, but you clearly said that it was born of boredom.
I stared, my eyes transfixed with this boy's, trying to figure out why I feel so called to the image. How is it so significant if it's little more than a pretty picture of an insane boy trapped in an instuitution with a butterfly?
Finally, my own interpretation rose to the surface of my mind:
No one can define normalcy. Even the majority of a group can be abnormal. Our individual perspectives create our individual worlds, where we, as individuals, create our own definition of normalcy. Therefore, in the mind of an insane boy, he is the only sane one around him. Those that lock him up are insane monsters who simply can't agree with his point of view.
What I interpret this to mean is: because we all have different mindsets, we are all arguably insane in the point of view of others who don't share our beliefs. When we are surrounded by only people who disagree with us, we then feel trapped as an undesirable deviant. This is why the insane boy in this deviation has an expression of sane longing. He longs to be free among people like him. Perhaps he sees the free butterfly and it's many companions. Oh, how wonderful it would be, to be a bug among friends instead of a just human without any friends!
This is why you get a well-deserved

This is really deep art in my opinion. Art about insanity and such has always really caught my attention, this almost reminds me of something pink floyd would do

Since there are a lot of comments... and I am a lazhy person.. I didn't read all of them, so sorry, if this has already been said. First thing I realized is although his upper body looks perfect in this persprective his lower body does not. I get the impression of the legs being a bit too long for that special perspective..

The thing that really stood out to me when I first looked at the picture was the simplicity. The white background captures the feeling of asylum well, and the character is just gorgeous.
