I kinda don't understand the shading. I try to do the blue shading, then how do you shade it using the blue? I know if you lock the layer you can over color it, is that what you do?

To shade, you make a completely different layer ^^ I probably should have included that, sorry!

You shade with the blue just like you would with any other color. c:

Hmm? Oh yeah, okay.

But if you want to change the color, to, let's just say in the tutorial, to a darker brown. But it's blue. And you can't shade the whole thing with darker brown since there is gray.

Ummm...so- you're asking how to change the color of the shading easily? Ooor..?

Pfft, last time I count on my iPod to /actually/ reply to messages, lol.

Anywho- what I would do, if you want to see how it'll look before you apply any color and such, is on the layer with the shading, go up to "Filter". (It's on the bar with File, Edit, etc)
Then select "Hue and Saturation". You can use the Hue bar to change the color of the shading and you can see a whole bunch of colors and select what works.

xD

Oh, i see. Wait, but what if the color changes? Like, let's just say you have a cat that's blue and brown, and you filter it to make the shading dark brown. You don't want to have dark brown shading on blue fur? So how do I change that?

Koshi-Doshi In reply to Goldenstarz [2011-05-13 20:58:16 +0000 UTC]

You'd lock the shading layer and just color right over the dark brown shading with dark blue (or whatever color you're wanting) where there's blue. So say if it had blue stripes, you'd color over the brown shading where those stripes are. If you need me to, I can make a video tutorial if I'm not explaining it well enough xD

Oh, I get it. You have to do the other manually. C: Okay~ I understand.

It'd really be nice if you didn't though I've had to do that a few times and I was like: FUUUUUUUUUUUUU

Maybe you can lasso tool it, then you can draw those ones with it?

Koshi-Doshi In reply to Goldenstarz [2011-05-13 23:55:51 +0000 UTC]

The only issue is that the select tools leave a nasty edge to whatever you're doing. If it was softer edged, I wouldn't mind as much.

Hm... bluring it might help, but it always leaves it fuzzy

Indeedy...Maybe if I messed around with the blur tool's settings, I might get something okay-ish
