It's a scientifically proven fact that should be taught in schools that there are no bad reasons for drawing Gaara and Matsuri being... well, okay not back-to-back badasses, is side-by-side badasses a thing, too? Or just doing whatever as good friends, but I like to remind people belittling the competence of the ladies in this series that they're still ninjas and you're not, so
. And being asked to comment on the Matsuri hatedom as Gaara is an excellent reason. I believe I stayed perfectly in character if I do say so myself (and I believe I just did say so).In roughly widescreen wallpaper proportions, because that's what I'm currently using it as. I can already see some big problems with this picture, but I'm just glad I was able to work on and finish something this big again after a bit of a drought, so point out the mistakes if you like, but chances are I already know. I'll do better next time.

I love Gaara and Matsuri fighting together! I'm working on a "during the timeskip" fic where Gaara has to prove himself as a leader by leading her, Yaoki, and Korobi (two more filler characters) on a team for awhile (though Matsuri admits she's only been a genin for three weeks and her main job on missions thus far has been "stand inside sand shield and don't get killed"). It's going to be fun!

I'm amazed by the way you managed to get your own style even when you draw fan characters, is something I'm looking forward to do too in the future, I hope xD And I also love the way you can get such dynamic poses and lineart, the sand texture is also very well done! Beautiful! <3
Well, if it will be a couple or not, it's all up to Kishimoto, people can argue about ships, couples and so on, but that won't change the the manga or the anime at all. But I also think that everyone has the right to express his imagination and everyone's different, so why's people feeling somehow threatened by a character who's simply doing the same thing as they do, being in love with a guy, and instead of being happy that he's finally got some affection, they make these wars against her? I understand the fact that when you see your favorite character paired with someone else, you get a sort of bad feeling but damn, we're are humans we should be able to control our irrationality even a bit, besides the fact he's the fictional character in any case... And you are completely right about the mysoginy, all that competition between girls just for the males make feel the headache, medias don't help thought...

I dunno. I never really liked or hated Matsuri - to me, she's just another female character that was sort of introduced as a fangirl and...never really had any more depth.
That aside, I really love this drawing! Matsuri does look like a total BAMF (Gaara being BA goes without saying) and I really, really love the colors. The sand is done so beautifully, too. Just...everything about this art piece is lovely. =3

This is brilliant. Your style is so amazing! And hatedom is just stupid. People getting so hateful over an, unfortunately, fictional character is just...pathetic. Sad. Don't people have anything else to do with their lives besides make false claims as to why a character sucks so much. I saw some hate upon Hinata once and the person had said that she was weak, she only cared about Naruto and not the village, and whole bunch of other stupid crap. And then all the hate on Sakura...
Anyways, AMAZING piece of art you have here! I love your style and I can't stop staring at Gaara. Brilliant!

Sure, there are some I don't like as much as others, but I don't go so far as to hate them, say ridiculous things like they should die ( I hate to admit it, but they are all made up really lol ) and insult their fans
