I've never seen Claus as emo tbh. But I imagine he was very ashamed of his actions, not quite depression but getting near it, he. Took a lot of time to accept himself back into the world. (assuming that he actually lives like in my headcanon)

Oh boy, you know as big I am a fan of the game I've only played through it fully once. I've started another game that I'm halfway though but I might've lost my progress because I gave my mac a stupid update and can run the emulator anymore.... I really want to get the cartridge. 

The game is sad, but it's hopeful. Lucas is hopeful, I'm sure of it. I don't like people always making it looking like he's got depression and stuff, he's a strong kid and through the traumatic events he's experienced he is amazing!

Well that sorta sucked, sorry about that unfortunate circumstance.
I can see why you say its' hopeful, Lucas may pull the final needle and the world is going under an apocalypse, but we see that everyone survives and is fine and dandy (Then again, they might be in purgatory and we don't know it, maybe.)!
*Note: This isn't related to Lucas or Claus or anything (Actually it does kinda related to them a bit.) but a couple of weeks ago, I showed one of my younger cousins this picture. And what did he did next? He took one look at Claus (I assumed he looked at Claus anyways,) and called him 'the tsundere sunflower man'. I mean, why tsundere sunflower man? I can get the sunflower and man part, but why tsundere? I'll letcha think about it.

Hehe, I guess having Claus die in front of Lucas is what makes the game such a memorable, emotional experience. I'm sad, but I think that's what makes the game so damn good.

In my headcanon Claus is bought back to life by Lucas' wishes and the power of the dragon he released from pulling out the last needle.

That is true. Oddly enough, I know a person who didn't cry at the ending while I'm needing a box of tissues. But the ending just hits me since I'm a big sister and since Claus is a big brother, I just imagine myself in his place and what would it be like for my little sister to watch me die. It's pretty deep stuff. But your AU is gorgeous it's better than mine where Claus is just very overprotective and constantly tells Lucas what he can and can't do, he also follows Lucas around like his personal body guard or shadow. So Lucas is constantly babied by Claus.

Oh I see, well Itoi tries to make his games are authentic as possible. That's why the characters are so believable, it's a really bit charm to the series as a whole and I friggin love it.

I've had this headcanon for a long time now, and it's reflected in my art too. Nearly all of it is set in a post-mother 3 setting, so it's after Lucas released the dragon. I never saw Claus as a "bodyguard". He is protective, but he doesn't protect Lucas like he's helpless. I think by the time since the events set in Mother 3, Claus would know how strong Lucas actually is. Possibly even a little jealous of it, (or is envious a better word?). I like to think Lucas is also protective over Claus, afterall he was he who resurrected Claus. Before Mother 3 events I imagine Claus to be more bossy over Lucas than anything else, you know that big brother thing, hehe. But yeah, both have changed quite a lot since.

Also more about my headcanon: Claus resurrected in his cyborg self, since the damage to his body was done 3-4 years ago it can't healed. (or he was revived with just the damage minus the mechanical parts, perhaps "good" Dr. Andonuts remade the parts for him, makes more sense that way I guess, haha) Also Hinawa can't be revived due to the time gap, like, how much of her physical body will be left anyway? You'd turn her into a zombie, lol.
Also when Claus first came back, he couldn't accept himself with being treated as Porky's puppet and damaging the Nowhere Islands and stuff like that. It was only through Lucas' words that made Claus decided he will really farewell his mum (again just the other way around till he revisits her later, haha).

Oh my goodness. Your headcanon just yes. It's beautiful! I really haven't added much to mine it just kinda develops with the help of my friend drummermiku to help finalize the AU for me.
