For Valentines Day I think it is the right picture to upload
Happy Valentines Day to all you there! 
Caterpillar: Elephant Hawk-moth (Deilephila elpenor) a moth with beautiful wings in green and pink. The german name of this moth is Mittlerer WeinschwΓ€rmer and this sounds to me more comfortable with the color because wine is red and vine leafes are green.
This caterpillar was nearly 10 cm long (~3.94 inch) and a really big one. One of the preferred food plants is willoherb [link] this caterpillar (and three others) have chosen to live only in this plants standing near a pond in my mothers garden.
It likes to feed the flowers and young leaves of the plant and I saw it only one time holding the flower as a present for someone (me?
) after it bites of the flower from the plant (see at the left side of the picture). As always for macro shots I used my macrolense from Hama on my Canon Eos 450D. 1/200 with f/9 and a white paper in front of the flash light to give soft light between the shadows of the plant on this sunny day.

thank you all!) there are a few things I would name 'a trend'...^^ most of you think:
It's a male... He want to give someone a flower but......
... the flower was faster gone than he could give it and he didn't know why... 
But that don't care... however he is cute!

I really love this shot. How long did you have to wait to get it?

I found them by accident while I was searching dragonflys between reed. There where some willow-herb plants between the reed and on this flowers there where the caterpillars. I watch them several times for a few days to get the best shot. But the whole time leaves or branches maked it impossible to have a closer look. Everytime I or my cam hit a leave - the caterpillar adopting a defensive position. The only thing I wanted was one picture without leaves or branches in the front of the picture and a unstressed caterpillar so I had to be very patient - and than I get this. ^^
