My entry for 's new OC Tournament - Viper's Colosseum!ΒEDITED: Story altered a little and the missing height, weight and age details added!
I've created a new character for this (although I've reused an old name for her!) This is Paragon. The idea behind her character is that this is a hero from our modern celebrity worshipping age. When she discovered her powers she saw it both as a chance to do good but also a chance to live out her dreams. No secret identity here - record deals, red carpets, product endorsements - Paragon lived an believed her own hype.
Until, that is, she learned that her publicists were arranging all of her battles, and making sure that she won. The woman who never doubted her talent and power now has to question - how much of it was real? Was she ever really a hero? One thing she IS certain of - the public must never know the truth, or her media empire, fortune and celebrity lifestyle will come crashing down around her.
So now she's heading for the fighting tournament at Viper's Colosseum - to face the toughest fighters and prove to the world and to herself that Paragon is a true hero. We shall see what happens next!

The more I think about it, the more I think it would be fun to keep her at the height of her celebrity during the tournament - so SHE's learned that her publicists have been faking her fights, but the media (and the other fighters) still haven't found out yet. I quite like the idea that - against her publicists advice she's signed up to the Colosseum to prove herself, but she still wants the stardom and the fame so she basically covers up the lies. This way she still gets to behave like a bratty Miley Cyrus type in the Colosseum, rather than being all miserable and depressed!

Good thing, definitely! ( though you might wanna add Age/Height/Weight, at first I thought it was a WIP

Whoops - missed the age/height/weight bit! I will update ASAP! I need to go back to it anyway, because I've changed my mind slightly about her backstory (I don't want the public to know she's a fake yet, basically!)
What's the Johnny Cage nod? I haven't followed Mortal Kombat for aΒ long time, so it was probably a complete coincidence!

The, unintentional then, nod is, that this is basically a lot like Johnny Cage's story ( at least in the movie ).
He was accused of not being a real fighter, so he entered the tournament to prove to his haters and the media that he was.
In the movie he was tricked to join by Shang Tsung, not sure what the original story in the game was.

Ah, I see! I didn't remember that - but in any case I'm thinking of editing Paragon's backstory a bit - in that she's found out that her fights were faked (which motivates her to prove herself in the Colosseum) but the media DON'T know that yet - that way I can play around with the idea of her still being a mega star and be a bit of a diva during the story, rather than being all self doubting and miserable! I think the stories will be a bit more fun and a bit less gloomy that way.Β Anyway - updated bio to post soon...

Thanks! I wanted a character who had a good reason for being in the tournament, and it took me a while to come up with a story I liked! I quite like the idea of the hero as a sort of Miley Cyrus type celebrity - should give me a chance to do something different. (Also - shiny supergirl character! Yay!) I should be able to do some sort of intro comic so people know how to write her - are you going to do an intro for Vicky?

Yeah I think she'll be a bit of a brat! Reconsidering the origin slightly - in that it might be more fun if the media haven't outedΒ her as a fake yet and she's still covering it up (although discovering the deception herself has led to her wanting to prove herself on the island) It would let me play around with the hero as megastar idea a bit more. Really looking forward to seeing your intro
