Description The naval battle of Salamis island, back at 480 BC was the first victory for Greeks against Persians after the loss of Thermopylae and the death of Leonidas's hoplites.

Greeks used the same strategy like Thermopylae, but in a sea battlefield now, avoiding an open conflict with the huge Persian fleet and when the time was right they used the carefully chosen battlefield adn the sea itself to destroy Persians.

Hope you like it people, and please excuse my sort history lesson.

Regards.

Great work!

As I recall, the Greek victory had something to do with the Persian ships being too large to maneuver well in the narrow strait without running aground.

Thx for your comment.

Yes that's true...Especially for the number of the Persian fleet & less for the trireme's size in both sides...

Except from the military tactic itself, Greeks major advandance was their sea knowledge in the specific area (and in general)...So, when the morning tide began, Persian ships had major dificulties to steer...Their ship's "belly" was exactly where Greeks want them and BANG.

Thx again man.

Also, not forget to mention, Themistocles was in the effective command of the Greek allied navy at the battles of Artemisium and Salamis.
