Description In 275 BC the battle of Benevento was the last for the Greek king Pyrrhus of Epirus in Italy. The war elephants he had with him, came from his Greek Macedonian allies.
The Romans after the initial surprise, did not take long to realize that, like all animals, so the pachyderms afraid of fire, and with flaming arrows and lighted sail with their famous "scorpion" (Roman ballistras) spreaded panic in the big animals which in horror trampling everyone in their way.

Pyrrhus was considered a foreigner by Greeks, he was not Greek.

You must have read the wrong books.
Epirus at the times of Pyrrhus was Greek as Macedonia and all the other city states did.
They took part at the Olympic games were only Greeks could participate and all the enscriptions, monuments etc founded from this era are in Greek language.

since it was colonized by Hellenes and was later ''Hellenised''Β partly, it falls to perspective whether Epirus can be claimed as Greek along with it's history...

I have, it began in the 8th century BC, and it didn't reach that far (Epirus) until later centuries. The Greeks colonized in Epirus therefore it was foreign to them.

Nicely done - like the PoV from behind the pilae (is that the right plural of pilum?) and the phalanx advancing through the dust.

Is that how we came up with the phrase "pyrrhic victory"?
