Yay. \o/ Every Serperior I own goes, by default, by the name of Kanda. :3

My Serperior enbodies the fierce competitor that Kanda is, including his solitary nature, pride in his own skills and not to be taken lightly. No offense, but I think Glaceon is a bit too "cute" to be Kanda. In my oppinion, Glaceon's not menacing enough to reflect Kanda's glare. But that just how I feel~ o/ In fact, Kanda the Serperior is something that originates from the fact that I named my Snivy/Tsutaaja Kanda while playing a fantranslated rom when the official English names weren't released yet. : > It's stuck ever since. I once had a Nidorino named Kanda. |3

Oh, nice. Well, I kind of renamed my main PokΓ©mon in Black because by then, only the romanised Japanese names were known. They stuck... and are now featured in my UBF team. :'D

...you name your pokemon after anime characters as well?

Not always, but Kanda and Lavi are exceptions. :'3
I rarely nickname my PokΓ©mon, but I played a fantranslated rom of Black, which still had the original japanese names, but English text. Kind of nicknamed most of my pokΓ©mon on it: Veren/Pendoraa, Aurora/Zeburaika, Kanda/Jalorda.... it just sounds better. : >

Isn't it always nice when cool things are being sweet? ;3
Thank you, I'm glad you like it. ^^ It does indeed look more voluminous than just flat shading. I'm still experimenting with this mixed style of cell and soft shading. But glad to hear I'm on the right path. :3

Thank you for your comment, I really appreciate it. :3
Serperior is one of my favourite PokΓ©mon from the Unova region. :3 The Serperior in my first Black File, was named after my favourite DGM character... And I think their personalities would match as well. :3
Thank you for your critique. This is what I wanted to hear. I tried applying more shades and lines to his hair and updated this picture. Would you mind telling me if it looks better now?
I'm still trying to find the balance between cell-shading and soft shading. I usually combine both, but I still somewhat want to separate realism and Anime-style, and yet combine them. If that makes sense.

I never nickname my Pokemon. It just becomes to much of a hassle after a while. If anything, I just name them after colors, lol
Oh yeah, his hair actually looks a lot better than before now that you've added to it. I understand completely when you say you want to balance the different styles. I don't color my work often, but I do watch how my friends do it and I learn from them. I know my friend, ~ULTRArei looks as references often when she wants to do art work really well. I would suggest looking at photographs of hair to see how it flows and how the highlights and undertones work with different hairstyles. It could help you figure out how to make it look more realistic.

Alright.

I loved the picture.
I am sure Kanda is loving having Serperior as his pokemon. Is there any chance you do Lavi with Samurot and Allen with emboar?
