As the lava consumed Sombra's flesh, he only smiled. For even though they finally defeated him once again, he still took down all but a very few of their armies, he still ripped apart each of their leaders and burned their cities to the ground. They even had lost more than half of the remaining soldiers during this last assault.
They had won the battle. But in truth he had won the war. And as the lava fully consumed him, he only laughed. For this wasn't the first time he had died, he would be back. And when that time comes he would make sure that these remaining enemies would be the first to face his wrath.

I was also surprised by the end. Somehow a bit disappointed how quickly it ended.
Too bad though that it's a case of "in the comic only". And since he got someone, no shipping with another pony.
