I love this - I am writing a piece in my other world about our personal positive shadow and this would be a great illustration if I could use it. I would put a link back to this page if you were OK with that.

masking fluid? does it work like rubber cement?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
koyamori In reply to betchhcakes [2012-01-02 15:47:28 +0000 UTC]
It has the same consistency in a way, but you can take the dried fluid off afterwards. I'm not sure if that can be done with rubber cement.

It can be taken off, but its a real pain :/

That's really great detail with the masking fluid! I love this new style of yours. What kind of masking fluid do you use? The kind I have is oddly thick...

I use Demco brand masking fluid. <:
It does get pretty thick too.;;

Topler In reply to koyamori [2011-12-20 06:54:13 +0000 UTC]
I'll try to keep an eye for that kind!
I'm new to the medium- does masking fluid always get that thick? My jar is a hand-me-down, so it's kind of old, but it's obnoxiously gloopy and hard to deal with sometimes...

Usually masking fluid is not that thick but Demco is a cheap one,and if it's old it might congeal too. :'D tricky stuff

Oh my God, this is gorgeous! The colors are so wonderful and I love their dark stain! It's such a cool effect, the way it begins with the high contrast at the bottom! It's such an effective design, the colors are so dream-like and the white silhouettes of the kids really provide for a surreal effect. Very beautiful!

I am quite fond of this new thing you're doing. Much of your art is very pastel, very serene and dreamlike, but these colors you've used contrast that while remaining true to it. The layers of color and action are striking, and some of it almost reminds me of Dr. Seuss' "forbidden" works (if you've ever seen them; the ones he painted privately).
