Was the pen you grabbed too thick? I would have suggested a different pen but you were a bit rushed.
As a side note, I suggest practicing coloring grass on a separate piece of paper. It might look nice if you color individual blades of grass in the non specific parts of the garden. Unless, that is, you plan on making everything but the specific plants dirt 
Does the lilac bush need a trunk?

lol ^^ the pen i grabbed was the same brand but it was blue so that's the blue scribble you see on the top and the lilac bush is covering the trunk and outer than that i have no clue what im doing for the most part, just winging it.
