*Thanks for the suggestions guys. I've lightened the eye area and, something I've wanted to do for a while, modify his face markings*After poster her conbadge on the Furstralia forums I realised I hadn't done mine yet with 2 weeks to go.
Again, props to mister ~klepas for the use of his beautiful Intuos 3.

ooh, your digit painting skillz have increased alot in recent timez the shape and details are starting to become much more solid...although i would say you are falling into two common trapz d00d, you might wanna watch out fer this in future.
a) shading with black and greys...basically don't do it, it makes the image look a little muddy, and turns the nice yellow into a sorta olive green weirdness and also flattesn stuff out (there are some instances where this is appropriate though), use complimentary colours and tones of the colour your using : 3
b) ok, this is more of a person quibbly, but EYEZ, there is a thousand hours of awesome in the super realistic eyes...in comparison the rest looks rushed, don't over do the eyes, they are important...but small details are what makes an image magical, fine tune areas like the collar and buckle, sleeves etc first, and save the eyes till last to bring it to life
hope this don't sound to harsh X'D it's a great image, the and the problems are minor, it just takes ages to discribe them and how to improve in those areas :3

Bummer, and here was a picture where I didn't sue Grays for shading\highlights.
No no it's a great point. Admittedly I left the collar and body being somewhat rushed.
As for the eyes I pulled the base of them out of a photo and overpainted so the detail ramped up soemthign shocking.
Thanks for the advice though dude. Most of this ended up looking quite painted from a mixture of a newer tablet and a solid smudge tool.
Honestly though i couldn't figure out how to put more detail into the fur and face

: / you didn't use teh greys? hrm the problem would be the colour choice, this will be a totaly pain, but if you get some time grab a colour wheel and look what is directly opposite of yellow, and try using that for shading : 3 (do a crappy little OC test or sumthing) also you could possibly tweak it using the photoshoppe 'colour select' tool, that's how i tweak colours : 3,
it's actually pretty nice exceptfer on the yellow parts. i know it's a pain in the ass to get critz like these when you where sure i looked fine X'D (i used to get the all the time in painting...its how i know X'D)
the head and face are pretty detailed, but because they are so more painterly, it makes it look a smidgion rushed compared to the eyes : 3, so i'd either practice on making everything thing spastically detailed, or make everything more painterly : 3

No no, I just chose the dumbest colours for my avvy. The opposite of yellow is the royal blue I use, which is in there but looks like Fur ^^
Although I didn't paint the shading exclusively in colours which I probably should have.
Ahh well problems to work out I suppose.
