"Blaze... Next time big brother comes over, I want you to too..."  Zero's voice was soft over the telephone, Blaze could barely hear him.  "Only... Don't let him know you're coming... Come over about five minutes after him, come in through the back way... It's important."

Blaze stood there, a small look of confusion on his face.  He was very confused now, for many reasons.

One, Zero never called to talk to him.  Never!  The two hated each other.  Two, Zero asked Blaze to sneak behind Caim's back.  That was very odd.  Zero greatly looked up to his older brother, and knew that Blaze would never do anything to earn the distrust of his husband.

But still... Blaze couldn't help but be curious as to what was starting this.  What was Caim doing, or saying, while at his brother's home?  "I guess... I guess I"ll go." he whispered to himself as he placed the phone back on the reciever before heading back upstairs.

Things had been tense for Blaze and Caim.  Ever since the kids had moved out, the two couldn't stop fighting.  What made it worse is that, since both Caim and Blaze weren't human, they aged very slowly.  So their strength was at full power.  Some nights would end with the two cut up or bruised badly.

Blaze felt horrible for all the fighting he did.  He loved Caim, he really did.  But Caim just kept trying to start a fight with him, and that's what he got.  He never understood why though.  Why would Caim try to make their lives hell?  Blaze could never understand the fire demon.

The time came when Caim went over to Zero's house again.  He did this weekly, wanting to stay in touch with his actual blood family.

Blaze waited until he could no long hear the engine of Caim's mortorcycle before he headed out as well, taking a longer route to get to Zero's house.

He pulled up in the ally right behind the large grey house, killing the engine of his own bike, so he wouldn't make any noise.  He sighed, he felt bad for sneaking around behind Caim's back, but Zero sounded upset over something.  Just what was Caim doing?

As Blaze walked through the back door, which Zero had left unlocked for him, he could faintly hear the three brothers talking.

It sounded like they were having an argument.

"You can't keep treating him like this!! It isn't fair to Blaze" came Zero's voice.

An argument about him.

Blaze paused right behind the doorway to the next room, listening.  He heard Caim speak.

"What I do is none of your business..." he sounded annoyed.  nothing new there.

"It is our business when you're just using him!"  Zero yelled.  "We all know you don't love him!"

Blaze froze, not believing what he heard.  Of course Caim loved him!  Caim said so himself, many times.  Why else would he stay with him so long?  Zero knew nothing!

He heard Caim snort.  "Like I care what you know... I'm just surprised he doesn't know yet."  his voice was cold as ice.  "I stayed just for the kids, only reason... I was sure he'd get rid of me once they left."

Blaze wanted to cry. 'No..' he thought. 'No Caim didn't say that... He would never say that... He.. He loves me...'

A smack was heard from the room.  Zero had lost it and hit Caim as hard as he could.

"You bastard!! How could you be so cruel!! He loves you!  How are you my brother?! I don't know you anymore!!"  Zero's words were as cold as the ice he controled, but held the passion of the fire running through his veins.

Caim laughed.  "I don't care.  I never loved him."

Blaze couldn't stop himself.  He kicked the door open, walked right over to Caim, and punched him as hard as he could.  His entire body was shaking and he was on the verge of tears.

Zero and Damion stood there in shock, watching as CAim was knocked from his chair from the punch.  ".. woah..."

Caim stared at the floor for a moment before a look of anger replaced the one of surpries.  He got up quickly and stared down at the upset blond in front of him.  "Well well well... Look who finally realized the tru-"

Blaze punched him again.  "Shut up!! Just shut up!" he screamed, the tears threatening to fall from those sad rubies.   "I.. I can't believe you!! All those years... Did it all mean nothing?!" he cried.

"Of course it meant nothing."  Caim said, his voice calm.  "I only stayed because I knew you couldn't raise those kids right... Hell we barely did well together.  Imagine how much more fucked up they'd be if it was just you!

I despise you!"

Those last words hit Blaze like a ton of bricks.  He wanted to break down and cry, but he couldn't.  He didn't know what to do, he never expected any of this to happen...

He was dragged out of his thoughts as a clawed hand scratched his face, droplets of blood splattering to the floor.

Zero and Damion quickly got up and pulled Caim away from Blaze, to keep him from hurting the dragon even more.

"Let go of me!"  Caim growled, struggling in his brothers' grasp.  "I've had enough of all of you!!"

"... Fine." Blaze said, his voice breaking.  "It's...It's over.  .. If.. If you don't love me, then I want a divorce."  Blaze left without another word.

The next couple months were miserable for Blaxe.  He had kicked Caim out, filed the divorce papers... And watched his world crumble.

One by one he realized all of the mistakes he made in his life.  And one by one he realized there was nothing he could do to fix any of them.  His daughter had finally lost it, her own little world shattering like the mirror she hated so much.

His son... There was definatly nothing he could do to fix that mistake.  he was gone now.

It had been three months now without Caim.  Blaze could never get used to the empty space in the bed.  Often at night, he would just start crying.  He remembered how Caim used to hold him close, and tell him everything was alright.

However nothing was alright, and Caim wasn't there to hold him.

Blaze cried more, digging his claws into the bed, ripping it open.  "Dammit.." he sobbed.  He didn't know what to do without Caim.  It felt like every nerve in his body was crying out in pain and despair.

One quiet night, Blaze got up from his bed and got dressed and left the house.

He couldn't stay in there anymore.

He ran to the woods that were near his house.  As he got deeper and deeper, towards the heart of it, he noticed that he still felt horrible.

Then he realized, he was going to die.

A dragon cannot live without it's mate.  Once the mate leaves or dies, the dragon itself will die soon after.  A broken heart cannot help to keep the body alive and the soul attached.

Blaze stopped in his tracks and screamed.  He felt a fire surge from deep inside him.  Bright flames flickered around him, destroying the darkness.
The sound of cracking bones echoed through the woods as Blaze's body transformed from a human form to his dragon form.

A large golden dragon stood there, fire still swirling around it's long body as he roared.  The ground shook and the animals of the forest cried out as the fled the scene.

Large red drops fell from the black and red eyes, falling to the ground.   Blaze closed his eyes and let out another roar as the flames completly engulfed his body.

I'm Sorry...!

The fire continued to burn until well into the morning.  By the time it ended, only ash and part of a the dragon's skull remained.

By then most of Blaze's 'family' had shown up.

Everyone was silent, eyes wide in the horror of this.  No one had expected it to end like this...

The silence was broken as Blaze's brothers started to scream in despair.

Wind erupted from Zeke's body.  A small whirwind hid his body and he shot up into the air, disappearing into the wind.

Adam screamed louder, the ground rumbling behind him.  Everyone screamed and backed away as he sunk into the earth, being swallowed up by the plant.

Sabra's eyes were wide.  This wasn't right, Blaze couldn't be--!!  He screamed, pain and anger surging through his small body.

The skies turned black, lightning sliceing through the darkness only once as rain began to pour down.

Sabra was gone by the second flash of lightning.

No one knew what to do.

Not even Caim, who had just managed to walk up to the scene.  His coal black eyes were wide.  He never expected any of this to happen.

Before anyone could react, Selina rounded up on her father and slapped him hard accross the face.

"This is all your fault!!" she screamed.  NO one bothered to correct her.  It was true, if Caim had made better decisions.  NONE of this would happen.  Maybe Kiera would still have been alive, maybe Selina wouldn't have lost her mind.

Maybe Blaze would still be alive.

Caim couldn't react to this though.  He felt like a doll, emotionless.  He could barely hear Selina yell at him.

"I can't believe you!! How could you!! It's all your fault!!" she screamed again, her voice being drowned out by the rain.

"It's all my fault..."

Blaze couldn't see.  He couldn't hear anything either.  He couldn't feel.

"Where am I..."

It was pitch black.

"Oh.. I must be dead..."

That was the only answer he could think of.  And he was right.

Cold cruel laughter echoed through the darkness, as well as the sound of crying.

"I'm sorry everyone.... It's all my fault."
