Or perhaps he's their giant animated toaster!Unlike my previous comic, a quick search of deviantart reveals that this is a much more prevalent theory amongst the fanbase. Still, I thought I'd do my own take on it - specifically regarding the mechanics of it.
I'm rather proud of Balrog's facial expressions in this one. I spent a lot of time in the sketching trying to get just the right mix of petulance and hurt, and failing, but it really just kinda came out in the final line work. He's so fun to draw.
(I think Quote and Curly came out a lot worse here...)
And in case you're wondering, yes, Quote used the lv. 3 soul sword to cut the loaf of bread into nice even slices. Because it should totally work like that.

I've yet to actaully beat the game (I got to the point where curly dies and decided to research the game so I could get the best ending + curly mode, only to find the 3ds remake doesn't have curly mode, and then there was the large release of great games for the 3ds and I haven't been able to get back to cave story since) so I have no idea...

Nice comic there! I found the bread cooking method really creative, Sliding down the arms... the white eyed "please wait" thingy.
I really like it. It was funny...
Aaaaaaaaaand (They won't leave me alone for this one) Shouldn't the Lvl.2 or Lvl 1 sword cut bread the best? Since... if it was Lvl.3... it would turn into little, posessed, mutilated, irregular... croutons.
