Description I was introduced to ink brush in my figure drawing class spring semester of last year and I absolutely loved it. I still need to put one of my first ink drawings up here. It's too big to scan.
Anyway, unfortunately, I've hardly done any ink drawing since then. I'm trying to think up a lot of ideas for my senior project this semester, so I thought I'd at least try and practice a little bit of ink brushing. Unfortunately I made the mistake of doing the pencils in my sketchbook, so I did the actual inking on tracing paper -.-;; So this is traced, inked, scanned, and then I lightly touched up the lines in photoshop (I forgot to erase my pencils). Eventually I will do a lot more touching up with my tablet and then do this full color. I might make his hands bigger and stretch out the figure a little.

This is Carock from the Zelda RPG I run on the sluggy boards (Yes, it's still going, though with a considerably limp). He's the biggest and strongest wizrobe there is, and he draws inspiration from a number of Zelda characters. Wizrobes are Zelda enemies who are always cloaked (sometimes with witch hats), mysterious figures who appear, shoot magic at you, then vanish. The name Carock comes from the not so popular Zelda 2, where he was a boss in the 4th or so dungeon. His general figure is based on some of the character artwork for wizrobes, Carock in particular. You can't tell without a shadow, but he's supposed to be floating.

Diehard Zelda fans might recognize his headdress and scarf getup from Agahnim, the evil wizard in Link to the Past. I actually meant for him to be a little bulkier like Agahnim is in the character art. The idea for his scythe comes from a monster called a gomess. Gomess appears in a couple of games where he controls bats, but his most impressive appearance is in Majora's Mask, where he appears as a large, floating, cloaked figure carrying a humongous scythe. Carock summons his scythe by invoking the name of the monsters that use it.

For those who follow the game - Carock is one of Marla's high command. Not much is known about where he comes from or why he's special. The power of his magic is almost on par with Shia and Marla, and, being what he is, he can use it for much longer periods of time. He generally stays hidden in the shadows, summoning monsters to do his bidding, as he is generally weak against physical attack. Despite this, he somewhat relishes combat, using his massive scythe and ability to teleport short distances. He doesn't play fair. He is sometimes at odds with Danda's strange sense of honor.

This one really shines in the full-view, I think! I'm loving the varied thickness of the ink application. So wonderful and... organic, you know? It even -- nay, especially -- suits that scythe well.

I'm loving that scythe, by the way. I'm just loving the design, period.
