Description
This photo was taken at a place I volunteered at for two weeks in South Africa.
This is Zeus, Casper and Zoey. They are white lion cubs, about 7 weeks old when this was taken. The three cubs were bottle-fed several times a day, I fed them a few times during the two weeks I was at this place and it wasn't easy because they were moving so much. Zoey scratched my boyfriend (at the time) while he was feeding her so he started bleeding (and still has the scar). We cuddled with them a lot and sometimes they would fall asleep on our laps, but mostly they just walked around, climbed into someone's lap and then out again, going to the next person, but we picked them up and hugged them all the time. They were always making baby-noises like they were trying to roar (remember when Simba as a cub tries to roar?). They were adorable! I hugged them and kissed them a lot.
About white lions: White lions are not albinos, they are just white. It's a recessive gene that makes them white, so if two brown lions both carry the gene, there is a 25% chance they'll have a white cub. If only one of the parents carry the gene, they can't have white cubs. Two white lions will always have white cubs.
