Description Happy New year guys!
One of my new years resolutions is to get better at digital art, and so this pic was done digitally. Up until now i've been having real trouble with digital art although i hope i'm beggining to get there @___@

These are just random characters that i made up on the spot for this pic, nothing particularily groundbreakingly original ^__^;;

Inks-Manga studio
Colours-Photoshop

Thanks guys

crap. stupid deviantart... deleting my coments...

*repeats*

Huh... those are really interesting characters. Maybe you can use them later as side characters in one of your stories? That what I do when I create random characters. I save them for later! XD

I know this is a bizarre and very specific question, but what brush did you use?

Hmm whichever one's default i guess, i didn't vary it. Should i avoid that? :3

wow, that was done in photoshop? The colouring has so much texture, I thought it was traditional, nice job =3

Me and Denji both agreed, your digital line work works much better with your style of drawing compared to your traditional inking. Although you could probably get a similar effect with traditional inking anyway. I think its to do with the larger variety in thick and thin lines, in your traditional inking thick lines are used much more, and considering your style of drawing uses alot of attention to detail, thin lines definatly compliment the detailed areas in your characters more! =3

Very strong piece. Doing practice sets like this (sets of four), will usually give a good indication on areas that you want to improve on. Keep it up dude.

looks good for a first attempt, Mike. I like the way MangaStudio inks - the closest I've come to finding a digital equivalent.

Thanks Andy!
I'll practice with it here and there and hopfully i'll be able to hone a little more. The best part is that it's cheaper than buying all those "maru" and "G" etc. pens.

is it really? o.O; i'm pretty sure my nib pens were really inexpensive...the only reason i haven't been able to get hold of manga studio is because it costs so much

Debut has pretty much all the inking features you need for, well, inking. Not sure what significant extras you get with the full program.

The next best thing I've found (for digital inking) is cover pencil in painter ix, with the brush settings tweaked to make the line more opaque. But then painter is more expensive than manga studio, so...

mm...i'm hoping to get manga studio debut ASAP (come on clients pay mee!! >.< ) as i've heard a lot of good things about it from lots of different people, so it must be worth a look

still working on comics?

Odds and sods here and there, and trying to push my magnum opus past five - yes, five!!!! - pages. Commercial illustration work just seems to be swamping me since this time last year though. For which I am very happy!! Actually, Kriff inspires me to keep going with the comics - he's a young turk, folks! Watch out fer him!
